I believe that east Texas is shaded green because it either has a grassy plain or  there are a lot of grassy hills and I think that west Texas is shaded brown because it is like a desert.

Answer:

Eastern Texas is made up of undulating terrain covered with pine and oak trees, with rich valleys with tall noble wood trees, and for this variety of vegetation the map is given the green color, giving it the name of Pine Forests.

Western Texas is a region of diverse habitats and vegetation, ranging from valleys and desert plateaus to forested mountain slopes, due to these ecological characteristics it has the brown color on the map, it is given the name of Trans-Pecos.

Explanation:

The state of Texas is generally divided into 10 natural regions or ecoregions: Pine Forests, Gulf Marshes and Prairies, Oak Savanna, Blackland Prairies, Cross Timbers, South Texas Plains, Edwards Plateau, the Rippling Plains, the High Plains, and the Trans-Pecos.

Ecoregions or bioregions are geographic units with characteristic flora, fauna and ecosystems. They are a division of the large ecozones or biogeographic regions.
