The answer is Wilhelm Wundt. Wilhelm Wundt said that he wanted to do for psychology what the periodic table of the elements did for chemistry.

EXPLANATION

Wilhelm Maximilian Wundt was born on August 16, 1832. Wundt was a psychologist, philosopher, physical, and professor of psychology. He was best known as one of the founders of modern psychology. He was also known as the father of psychology. Wundt was the first person that ever called himself a psychologist. He also distinguished psychology as a science, apart from philosophy and biology.

Wundt founded and created the first formal laboratory in purpose for psychological research. This act marked psychology as an independent study, apart from philosophy, biology, and science. Wundt made psychology as an independent scientific field. Wundt also published the first academic journal for psychological research.

Wundt was a physician and neurophysiologist before he was turning to psychophysics and physiology. He believed that spatial perception can’t only be explained from the physiological level, but it also needs psychological principles. Wundt was the person who found experimental psychology. He then became the pioneer of cultural psychology.

Wundt created programs in empirical psychology, developed a system of philosophy from the concept of psychology. He brought several disciplines in one person. Wundt believed that principles that are not seen by our senses, can be recognized in human consciousness and perception, such as categories of thoughts, the principle of causality, the principle of emergence, epistemological principles, etc.
