A team of researchers are working on a project to make a new kind of airplane fuel. During their experiment, there was an explos

ion that destroyed the lab. While they were cleaning up the debris, they discovered a number of pieces of frozen metal. The scientific community was amazed. The researchers were so excited to report that they had discovered a fuel that burns so hot that it becomes cold. They were not sure of the true importance of their discovery but they knew it was something that had never been seen before. The researchers quickly wrote up a report, created a press release, and applied for a patent. The news spread quickly through the world wide scientific community and soon other scientists were trying to replicate their experiment. Much to the relief of the original team or researchers, no other scientist could ever replicate their find. Would this example be considered science or pseudoscience? Why or Why not?

Well for a start, this makes absolutely no sense, "discovered a fuel that burns so hot that it becomes cold."

And yes, it's not science if the experiment can't be repeated. In fact they should WANT it to be repeated so that you can get credit for discovering something new and then possibly harness this effect to produce useful applications.

For all we know they had a fewer of LN2 in the lab that got shredded by the blast, LN2 could certainly have frozen many things (not metal though, since metal is already solid at room temperature, (except for mercury)), and afterwards would leave no trace.

Which phrase change is an endothermic change? (1 point)
Vadim26 [7]
An Endothermic change is a process in which there is absorption of energy.
-Condensation is the transformation from a gas to a liquid. So the water molecules releases energy while condensing, so condensation is exothermic (opposite of endothermic, it's the release of energy)
-Vaporization is the transformation from a liquid to a gas. When you heat water to evaporate it, you're giving energy to the water molecules. And when they absorb this energy, they transform to a gas. Which means that Vaporization is endothermic.
-Deposition is the transformation from gas directly to solid without passing by the liquid phase. Same as the condensation, but the water molecules release even more energy to directly become Solid. So deposition is exothermic.
-Freezing is the transformation from a liquid to a solid. During this phase, water molecules releases energy to its surrounding. So freezing is exothermic.

We can conclude that Vaporization is endothermic, because it's absorbing energy to transform from liquid to gas, while condensation, deposition and freezing are exothermic because they release energy to transform.

Hope this Helps! :)

If you had a 0.800 L solution containing 0.0240 M of Fe3+(aq), and you wished to add enough 1.38 M NaOH(aq) to precipitate all o
guapka [62]

Answer:

0.041 L = 41.3 mL

Explanation:

This problem we will solve by considering the stoichiometry of the reaction and the definition of molarity.

Number of moles in .800 L solution:

0.800 L x 0.0240 M = 0.800 L x .0240 mol/L = 0.0192 mol Fe³⁺

to form the precipitate Fe(OH)₃ we will need 3 times .0192

mol NaOH required = 0.057

given the concentration of 1.38 mol M NaOH we can calculate how many milliliters of NaOH will contain 0.057 mol:

1.L/1.38 mol NaOH x 0.057 mol NaOH = 0.041 L

0.041 L x 1000 mL/1L = 41.3 mL
