Why is the number of trophic level restricted to four or five in a food chain?
erma4kov [3.2K]
All organisms need energy to survive. It requires many units of lower trophic level organisms to feed the next trophic level. For example many first order consumers (fish) are required to feed one crocodile (top order consumer). This is because energy is lost as heat at each trophic level, so the energy available to the top feeding level is far lower than that of the producers (plants). This is what restricts the number of trophic levels in a food chain to four or five.

What means genetic change in living things over time?
Lena [83]

It actually refers to the genetic traits, which change during time, because if you stop to think about it, surely, dogs 400 years ago were not the same as the dogs we see today since they have had changes in their genetic sequences, which adapted them to live better and even new species have appeared (or simply have been "made" which even so, depends on a genetic change).

Hope it helped,

Which refers to the amount of energy in a sound wave per unit of time and is also related to the loudness of a sound?
docker41 [41]
Intensity

The average amount of energy passing through a unit area per unit of time in a specified direction is called the intensity of the wave. As the amplitude of the sound wave increases, the intensity of the sound increases. Sounds with higher intensities are perceived to be louder.
