i answered the same question on anoter website!!!
Y=2/x. this equation has degree -1 whereas linear functions have degree 1
y=6x²-7 is nonlinear as it is degree 2
Obviously this will be a negative number
-2 - 14 = 5x - 3x
-16 = 2x
x = %28-16%29%2F2
x = -8 is the number
