Hello!

To solve this we use the equation sin60 = (s/2) / (d/2)

s is a side of the triangle
d is the diameter

sin60 = s/d

\sqrt{3/4} =s/d

d=s/ \sqrt{3/4}

d = s \sqrt{4/3}

d = 2s/ \sqrt{3}

put 6 in for s

d=12/ \sqrt{3}

d =  \sqrt{48}

d = 6.9

The answer is C) 6.9

Hope this helps!

What is an equation of the line that passes through the points (4,-6) and (8,-4)
qaws [65]

Answer:

y =  \frac{1}{2} x - 8

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line is usually written in the form of y=mx+c, where m is the gradient (also known as slope) and c is the y-intercept (the point through which the line cuts through the y-axis).

\boxed{gradient =  \frac{y1 - y2}{x1 - x2} }

Using the gradient formula above,

m =  \frac{ -4 - ( - 6)}{8 - 4}  \\ m =  \frac{ - 4 + 6}{4}  \\ m =  \frac{2}{4}  \\ m =  \frac{1}{2}

Substitute the value of m into the equation:

y= ½x +c

To find the value of c, substitute a pair of coordinates.

When x=4, y= -6,

-6= ½(4) +c

-6= 2 +c

c= -6 -2 <em>(</em><em>-2</em><em> </em><em>on</em><em> </em><em>both</em><em> </em><em>sides</em><em>)</em>

c= -8 <em>(</em><em>simplify</em><em>)</em>

Thus, the equation of the line is y= ½x -8.

If the sum of two consecutive odd number is 12 find them
Fiesta28 [93]

Answer:

5 and 7

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Fast and loose</u>: 12 is written as a sum of two odd numbers as 1+11; 3+9; 5+7. The only consecutive pair is 5 and 7

<u>Let's use algebra</u>: let's call 2n+1 the first and 2n+3 the second.

Their sum is 2n+1 +2n+3 = 4n+4 = 12. Thus, n+1=3 and n= 2. It means the 2 numbers are 2x2+1 =5 and 2x2+3 =7

Find the value of the length x rounded to 1 DP.
ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

x = 13.6 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

part A:

using tan rule:

tan(x) = \frac{opposite}{adjacent}

tan(39) = \frac{6}{adjacent}

adjacent = \frac{6}{tan(39)}

adjacent = 7.41

part B:

using tan rule:

tan(x) = \frac{opposite}{adjacent}

tan(44) = \frac{6}{adjacent}

adjacent = 6.213

Total length of x:

part A + part B

7.41 + 6.213

13.6 cm
