In this problem, you are looking at a pair of similar trapezoids. So we must be looking for a ratio between a side in the smaller trapezoid and the corresponding side in the bigger trapezoid. We are given the lengths of AB and EF, which we can use to find this ratio.
But before we do anything we must convert units so that all units are the same. Let's convert the 60 feet into inches. 60 feet is 720 inches.
Next, set up the ratio I mentioned earlier. If we set up the ratio so that it is smaller:larger, we would get 4:720, which simplifies to 1:180. Basically what this ratio says is that every 1 inch in the smaller trapezoid corresponds to 180 inches in the bigger trapezoid. Now we can use this ratio to find the lengths of the sides in the bigger trapezoid. Just multiply all the lengths of the smaller trapezoid by 180 to get the lengths for the bigger trapezoid. Finally, when we have all our side lengths, divide them all by 12 (because 12 inches in 1 foot) to get the measurements in feet.

From here, I'll let you find the total length yourself.

A boat has a speed of 15 mph in still water. It travels downstream from Greentown to Glenavon in g hours. It then goes back upst
Lerok [7]

Step-by-step explanation:

We want to find two things-- the speed of the boat in still water and the speed of the current. Each of these things will be represented by a different variable:

B = speed of the boat in still water

C = speed of the current

Since we have two variables, we will need to find a system of two equations to solve.

How do we find the two equations we need?

Rate problems are based on the relationship Distance = (Rate)(Time).

Fill in the chart with your data (chart attached)

The resulting speed of the boat (traveling upstream) is B-C miles per hour. On the other hand, if the boat is traveling downstream, the current will be pushing the boat faster, and the boat's speed will increase by C miles per hour. The resulting speed of the boat (traveling downstream) is B+C miles per hour. Put this info in the second column in the chart. Now plug it into a formula! Distance=(Rate)(Time) Now solve using the systems of equations!
