Answer 1) Mechanical energy - this can be either kinetic or potential and has to do with the energy of position and motion of an object

Explanation : Mechanical energy is sub divided into two parts kinetic and potential energy. Kinetic energy is observed in object in motion while the potential energy is seen in position of the object.

Answer 2) Kinetic energy - It is seen in a moving object but when it comes to rest the kinetic energy becomes zero.

Explanation : The kinetic energy of an object is the energy that it possesses due to its motion. It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes.

Answer 3) Potential energy - this type of energy is stored energy; it can be increased by getting into a higher position and/or stretching an object such as a rubber band.

Explanation : Potential energy is observed in the objects which are at height in the form of stored energy. It gets converted into kinetic energy when set into motion.

Answer 4) Electrical energy - This is energy that is transferred by the movement of electrons through a conductor: the electrons create a current.

Explanation : Electrical energy is produced by the movement of electrons across the electrodes through conductor. Mainly electrons flow from one end to another end of the electrodes to conduct electricity.

Answer 5) Light energy - This is radiant energy from the sun; it's the only kind of energy we can see with our eyes.

Explanation : Light energy is the only form of energy which can be seen through eyes. It is present in sun in the form of radiant energy which produces huge light through radiative diffusion.

Answer 6) Thermal energy - this type of energy can be transferred in three different ways: 1) direction contact through collisions (also called conduction), 2) through a fluid making a current created by less dense fluids floating and more dense fluids sinking (also called convection), and 3) by waves traveling with or without a medium (also called radiation) this has to do with the speed of an object and how much mass it has; basically how the object is moving.

Explanation : Thermal energy is the form of energy in which heat is transferred due to three reasons; direct contact or through fluid or by traveling with or without a medium also called as radiation.

Answer 7) Sound energy - This type of energy travels through vibrations on waves.

Explanation : Sound energy travels in the form of waves which has compression and rarefactions in waves. These vibrations are collected by ears and we hear sound.

Answer 8) Chemical energy - This type of energy is often found in things like batteries or food.

Explanation : Chemical energy is mainly seen in batteries and food as the stored chemical gets converted into electrical or mechanical energy. This is taking place because of the presence of chemical in substance, therefore, it is called as chemical energy.

Answer 9) Nuclear energy - This is the energy found in the nucleus of an atom this is the term used when energy changes from one form to another

Explanation : Nuclear energy is produced from the nucleus of atom which is when bombarded with high energy. It produces high amount of heat. It is widely used to generate electricity in steam turbines.

Answer 10) Energy conversions - Energy conversion also termed as energy transformation, is the process of changing one form of energy into another.

Explanation - As per the law of energy conservation. Energy can neither be created nor be destroyed it can be only transformed from one form to another form. There are numerous forms of energy like thermal energy, electrical energy, nuclear energy, electromagnetic energy, mechanical energy, chemical energy, sound energy etc. which can be interchanged between each other.

The type of energies or the words in this item are matched with the given descriptions. The lists below are as follow.

a. The word that best match this description is MECHANICAL energy. In most sources, mechanical energy is described to be that energy that is possessed by an object with respect to its motion and position.

b. The answer to this item is LIGHT energy. This type of energy can be created through different means (i.e. radiation, chemical, and mechanical). This is the energy emitted by hot objects such as the sun, lasers, and bulbs.

c. The type of energy that is transferred by the movement of the electrons through a conductor is ELECTRICAL energy. The movement of the electrons along the line is commonly called as the current. Moreover, this is also a type of kinetic energy because of the movement of the electrons. Thus, the faster the movement of the electron the higher is the energy.

d. The type of energy that is stored in batteries or food is CHEMICAL energy. This type of energy is that which is stored in the bonds of the different chemical compounds. This is also most commonly released when reaction between elements/compounds happen.

e. The energy that travels through vibrations and waves is SOUND energy. As given above, this is associated with the movement or vibrations of the matter. This is also a type of mechanical energy because of the waves produced through to the vibrations.

f. The type of energy that is found in the nucleus and atoms is the NUCLEAR energy. Nuclear reactions most often released this type of energy simultaneous with the generation of heat.

g. The stored energy is called the POTENTIAL energy. The equation for this energy is mgh where h is the height, pertaining to the position of the object. Once the object is released, it will be converted to other forms of energy.

h. The answer to this item is THERMAL energy. This type of energy can be transferred in three different ways: (1) conduction, (2) convection, and (3) radiation.

2.0L of hydrogen gas is mixed with 3.0L of nitrogen gas at STP in a rigid 5.0L vessel. A reaction occurs, producing ammonia gas
IrinaK [193]

Answer:

Moles NH₃: 0.0593

0.104 moles of N₂ remain

Final pressure: 0.163atm

Explanation:

The reaction of nitrogen with hydrogen to produce ammonia is:

N₂ + 3 H₂ → 2 NH₃

Using PV = nRT, moles of N₂ and H₂ are:

N₂: 1atmₓ3.0L / 0.082atmL/molKₓ273K = 0.134 moles of N₂

H₂: 1atmₓ2.0L / 0.082atmL/molKₓ273K = 0.089 moles of H₂

The complete reaction of N₂ requires:

0.134 moles of N₂ × (3 moles H₂ / 1 mole N₂) = 0.402 moles H₂

That means limiting reactant is H₂. And moles of NH₃ produced are:

0.089 moles of H₂ × (2 moles NH₃ / 3 mole H₂) = 0.0593 moles NH₃

Moles of N₂ remain are:

0.134 moles of N₂ - (0.089 moles of H₂ × (1 moles N₂ / 3 mole H₂)) = 0.104 moles of N₂

And final pressure is:

P = nRT / V

P = (0.104mol + 0.0593mol)×0.082atmL/molK×273K / 5.0L

P = 0.163atm
