A 21500 kg jet airplane is flying through some high winds. At some point in time, the airplane is pointing due north, while the

wind is blowing from the north and east. If the force on the plane from the jet engines is 35100 N due north, and the force from the wind is 14900 N in a direction 75.0° south of west, what will be the magnitude and direction of the plane's acceleration at that moment? Enter the direction of the acceleration as an angle measured from due west (positive for clockwise, negative for counterclockwise).

Answer:\theta =79.47 North\ of\ west

Explanation:

Given

Mass of airplane =21500 kg

Force due to jet engines=35100 N

Force from wind is 14900 N at angle of 75 south of west

Resolving forces

F_x=14900cos75=-3856.403 N

F_y=35100-14900sin75

F_y=35100-14392.29=20707.70 N

Therefore acceleration in x direction

a_x=\frac{F_x}{m}=\frac{-3856.403}{21500}=-0.179 m/s^2

a_y=\frac{F_y}{m}=\frac{20707.70}{21500}=0.963 m/s^2

Direction of acceleration

tan\theta =\frac{a_y}{a_x}=\frac{0.963}{0.179}=-5.38

\theta =79.47\ North\ of\ west

Two objects, Object A and Object B, need to be identified. Object A's index of refraction is determined to be 1.77, and Object B
Slav-nsk [51]

The correct answer is

C. Light can pass through Object B faster than it can pass through Object A.

In fact, the index of refraction of a material is defined as:

n=\frac{c}{v}

where c is the speed of light in vacuum and v is the speed of light in the material. Rearranging the equation, we can write the speed of light in the material as:

v=\frac{c}{n}

So we that, the smaller the refractive index n, the greater the speed of light in the material, v. In this problem, object B has lower refractive index than object A, so light travels faster in object B.

Archimedes supposedly was asked to determine whether a crown made for the king consisted of puregold. According to legend, he so
DENIUS [597]

Answer:

the crown was not made of pure gold

Explanation:

Mass of gold = weight in air/ g = 7.84N/10ms-2= 0.784 Kg or 0.8Kg

From Archimedes principle:

Upthrust= weight in air- weight in a fluid

Upthrust= volume × density × g

Note density of water = 1000kgm-3

7.84-6.84= V × 1000kgm-3×10ms-2

V= 1/10000= 1×10-4 m^3

Density = mass/ volume= 0.8/1×10-4

= 8×10^3 Kgm-3

But we know the density of gold to be 19.3 ×10^3 kgm-3

Hence the crown was not made of pure gold
