Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The journey began at 10:00 . The distance moved from this time is 110 miles. The cruise control is always set at 55 miles per hour. This means 110 miles was covered driving at a speed of of 55 miles per hour.

Speed = distance/ time

Time = distance/speed

Time at which 110 miles was covered will be 110/55 = 2 hours

So at 12:00 o'clock, I have covered 110 miles.

I then get hungry and take an hour break to eat lunch. After eating lunch for one hour, I resumed the journey at 13:00.

I drove 165 miles after the break.

The time taken to drive 165 miles

= distance / speed

= 165/55 = 3 hours

Total hours spent is 2 hours before the break + 1 hour break + 3 hours after the break = 6 hours

The trip ended at 16:00

15.       5,1          <- Answer

Proof 14

Solve the following system:
{2 x - y = -7 | (equation 1)
4 x - y = -4 | (equation 2)
Swap equation 1 with equation 2:
{4 x - y = -4 | (equation 1)
2 x - y = -7 | (equation 2)
Subtract 1/2 × (equation 1) from equation 2:
{4 x - y = -4 | (equation 1)
0 x - y/2 = -5 | (equation 2)
Multiply equation 2 by -2:
{4 x - y = -4 | (equation 1)
0 x+y = 10 | (equation 2)
Add equation 2 to equation 1:
{4 x+0 y = 6 | (equation 1)
0 x+y = 10 | (equation 2)
Divide equation 1 by 4:
{x+0 y = 3/2 | (equation 1)
0 x+y = 10 | (equation 2)
Collect results:
Answer: {x = 1.5
                y = 10

Proof 15.

Solve the following system:
{5 x + 7 y = 32 | (equation 1)
8 x + 6 y = 46 | (equation 2)
Swap equation 1 with equation 2:
{8 x + 6 y = 46 | (equation 1)
5 x + 7 y = 32 | (equation 2)
Subtract 5/8 × (equation 1) from equation 2:{8 x + 6 y = 46 | (equation 1)
0 x+(13 y)/4 = 13/4 | (equation 2)
Divide equation 1 by 2:
{4 x + 3 y = 23 | (equation 1)
0 x+(13 y)/4 = 13/4 | (equation 2)
Multiply equation 2 by 4/13:
{4 x + 3 y = 23 | (equation 1)
0 x+y = 1 | (equation 2)
Subtract 3 × (equation 2) from equation 1:
{4 x+0 y = 20 | (equation 1)
0 x+y = 1 | (equation 2)
Divide equation 1 by 4:
{x+0 y = 5 | (equation 1)
0 x+y = 1 | (equation 2)
Collect results:
Answer:  {x = 5                           y = 1

Joe's Ice Cream Shop has 7/8 of a gallon of vanilla ice cream left. They use 1/12 of a gallon of ice cream to make one milkshake
Vadim26 [7]

Answer:

Ten and a Half milkshakes can be prepared from the available amount of ice cream.

Step-by-step explanation:

The total vanilla ice cream = 7/8 gallons

Ice cream used for 1 milkshake = 1/12 gallon

Now, total number of milkshakes possible = \frac{\textrm{Total availibility of ice cream}}{\textrm{Ice cream used for each milkshake}}

= \frac{\frac{7}{8} }{\frac{1}{12} }  = \frac{7}{8}  \times \frac{12}{1}  = 10.5

Hence ten and a half milkshakes can be prepared from the available amount of ice cream.

What is the area of a rectangle that is 1 1/4 m long and 3/4 of a meter wide
Marat540 [252]

Answer:

the answer for this question is 15/14

to find area the formula is area = l×b

here length is 1 1/4 and breadth is 3/4 so l×b = 1 1/4=5/4 so 5/4×3/4=15/14

Plz i need help and plz explain
Montano1993 [528]

\frac{ {x}^{2}  - 7x + 12}{ {x}^{2} - x - 12 }  \\  =  \frac{ {x}^{2} - 4x - 3x + 12 }{ {x}^{2} - 4x + 3x - 12 }  \\  =  \frac{x(x - 4) - 3(x - 4)}{x(x - 4) + 3(x - 4)}  \\  =  \frac{(x - 3)(x - 4)}{(x + 3)(x - 4)}  \\  =  \frac{x - 3}{x + 3}

x² - x - 12 ≠ 0

x² - 4x + 3x - 12 ≠ 0

x (x - 4) + 3 (x - 4) ≠ 0

(x + 3)(x - 4) ≠ 0

x ≠ -3 or x ≠ 4
