A jar of marbles = 4/4 or 12/12
He gave kayla 3/4 or 9/12        he left 1/4 or 3/12 in the jar
Kayla returned 1/3 or 4/12
3/12+ 4/12 = 7/12
7/12 of the jar is full

we know that

1) Originally ------> Matt had x marbles

2) Matt gave Kayla 3/4 of the marbles

so

Now

Matt have

x-\frac{3}{4}x= \frac{1}{4}x

Kayla have

\frac{3}{4}x

3) Kayla returned 1/3 of a jar's worth of marbles to the jar

so

Kayla returned------> \frac{1}{3}x

Now

Matt have

\frac{1}{4}x+\frac{1}{3}x=\frac{3}{12}x+\frac{4}{12}x=\frac{7}{12}x

therefore

the answer is

\frac{7}{12}

∠QPS is a right angle and m∠QPR = 71°, what is m∠RPS?
natta225 [31]

Answer: <RPS = 161

Step-by-step explanation:

P is the common vertex in all of these angles. From this we know that these have to be adjacent angles (<QPR and <QPS) that equal the whole angle (<RPS)

<QPR+<QPS= <RPS

71+90= 161

(<QPS is a right angle. Right angles are equal to 90 degrees.)

A recursive rule for a geometric sequence is a1=3;an=12an−1 . What is the explicit rule for this sequence?
ehidna [41]
From the recursive rule, you can tell the initial value is 3 and the common ratio is 12. The explicit rule is always
.. (n-th term) = (initial value)*(common ratio)^(n -1)

Subsituting the values you know, you have
.. an = 3*12^(n-1)
