A. Electrons move from the sodium atoms to the oxygen atoms.

Explanation:

When oxygen reacts with sodium, electrons moves from sodium to oxygen atoms. An ionic bond forms between the two ions.

Ionic or electrovalent bonds form between atoms with a large electronegativity difference between them. These are typically metals and non-metals.

  • Electrons moves from the metals leaving a net positive charge on it.
  • The non-metals gain the electrons making them negatively charged.
  • The electrostatic attraction between the two ions results in the formation of ionic bonds.
  • In this example, two Na loses one electron each and making its ion resemble Neon atom which is a stable atom.
  • Oxygen gains the two electrons and completes its own octet too.
  • The two oppositely charged ions attracts and forms a compound.

1. An object has a mass of 10g and a volume of 50mL. What is the density?
Alona [7]

1. 0.2 g/mL

The relationship between mass, density and volume of an object is

d=\frac{m}{V}

where

d is the density

m is the mass

V is the volume

For the object in this problem, we have

m = 10 g

V = 50 mL

Substituting into the equation,

d=\frac{10}{50}=0.2 g/mL

2. 10 mL

In this exercise we know:

- The density of the object: d = 2 g/mL

- The mass of the object: m = 20 g

Therefore, we can re-arrange the previous equation to find the volume:

V=\frac{m}{d}

And substituting values into the equation, we find

V=\frac{20}{2}=10 mL

Which of the following positions would Earth be in if it were winter in the Northern Hemisphere?
abruzzese [7]

Answer:

Earth's tilted axis causes the seasons. Throughout the year, different parts of Earth receive the Sun's most direct rays. So, when the North Pole tilts toward the Sun, it's summer in the Northern Hemisphere. And when the South Pole tilts toward the Sun, it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
