What determines how fast a reaction happens?

Chemistry

Answer: What determines how fast a reaction happens is if one of the reactants is a solid, the surface area of the solid will affect how fast the reaction goes. This is because the two types of molecule can only bump into each other at the liquid solid interface, i.e. on the surface of the solid. So basically the larger the surface area of the solid, the faster the reaction will be.

Draw a cooling graph of water as it passes from 20°c to –20°c
tatyana61 [14]
The graph will begin at 20 °C and have temperature on the y-axis and time on the x-axis. The line will be a downwards sloping one, until the value of temperature of the graph reaches 0 °C. There, it will become horizontal for a small amount of time, and then continue to slope downwards until the graph reaches -20 °C.

The horizontal region is where the freezing of water will take place, and there is no temperature change that occurs when a state change is taking place. This is because the energy involved then is latent energy.

4 What would the volume of a gas be at -150°C, if it had a volume of 693 mL at 45°C?
kherson [118]

Answer: v2=268.047mL

Explanation:

V1/T1=v2/T2

V1=693mL

T1=45°c to convert to Kelvin 273+45=318k

V2=?

T2=-150°c to convert to Kelvin

273-150=123k

693/318=v2/123

Cross multiply

318v2=693×123

V2=85239/318

V2=268.047mL

It will be nitrogen.

The energy associated with the formation of 1 mol of gaseous cations is The ionization energy. 1 mole of electrons will form 1 mole of gaseous atoms under standard conditions. The ionization energy decreases as you go down a group on the periodic table.
