State tax = 2% of 785 = 0.02 x 785 = $15.70
city tax = 1% of 785 = 0.01 x 785 = $7.85
retirement fund = 3% of 785 = 0.03 x 785 = $23.55

Total deductions = $42.25 + $90.33 + $15.70 + $7.85 + $23.55 = $179.68

Net income = $785 - $179.68 = $605.32

What is the value of a?
Juli2301 [7.4K]
Actually, the answer is not A, if you're saying A is the first choice above.  That's incorrect.  You will need to use the Geometric mean for right triangles here to figure out what the value of a is.  We will use this form: \frac{YZ}{WZ} = \frac{WZ}{XZ}.  We have a value for YZ of 3; side a is XZ.  That means in order to solve this we need WZ, which we can find using pythagorean's theorem.  3^2 + 4^2 = c^2 and 9 + 16 = c^2 and c = 5.  Now we fill in accordingly: \frac{3}{5}= \frac{5}{XZ}.  Cross-multiply to get 3XZ=25 and side XZ is \frac{25}{3}.  XZ is 25/3 and YZ is 3, so 25/3 - 3 = XY.  That means that XY (side a) = 16/3 or 5 1/3, choice B, or the second one down.

Volgvan

Answer: 0.78

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : P(bridge and swim) = 0.67

P(bridge)= 0.86

Formula for conditional probability :

P(B|A)=\dfrac{P(\text{A and B})}{P(A)}

So, \text{P(swim }|\text{ bridge) = }\dfrac{\text{ P(bridge and swim)}}{\text{P(bridge)}}

=\dfrac{0.67}{0.86}\approx0.78

Hence, the probability that the member swims, given that the member plays bridge = 0.78

Find the area of the shaded portion. Show all work for full credit.
natita [175]
Draw some lines and we get some special 30-60-90 triangless
se diagram

so using my math
remember that if the hyptonuse is 2x then angle oposite the 30 degree is x and angle oposit the 60 degree is x√3

so

we have a kite and know the lengths of he diagonals
we do

(9+3) times (3√3) to find the area total which is 36√3

then, we find teh area of the sector not shaded
the area of the sector is (120/360) times the area which is pi6^2
so
1/3 times 36pi or 12pi
so

36√3-12pi≈24.6547 square units
