Why do the cells in all living things need energy?

Physics

Burka [1]3 years ago

A. to fuel their chemical reactions

How would energy help them decompose? And how would it help them communicate with other cells? Even better, the cell doesn't NEED to communicate to other cells. And they don't need to block sunlight, and in-fact kind of need it. So the only common sense answer I can think of is A.

Coherent light that contains two wavelengths, 660 nm and 470 nm , passes through two narrow slits with a separation of 0.280 mm
bekas [8.4K]

Answer:

λ1 = 0.0129m = 1.29cm

λ2 = 0.00923m = 0.92 cm

Explanation:

To find the distance between the first order bright fringe and the central peak, can be calculated by using the following formula:

y_m=\frac{m\lambda D}{d}    (1)

m: order of the bright fringe = 1

λ: wavelength of the light = 660 nm, 470 nm

D: distance from the screen = 5.50 m

d: distance between slits = 0.280mm = 0.280 *10^⁻3 m

ym: height of the m-th fringe

You replace the values of the variables in the equation (1) for each wavelength:

For λ = 660 nm = 660*10^-9 m

y_1=\frac{(1)(660*10^{-9}m)(5.50m)}{0.280*10^{-3}m}=0.0129m=1.29cm

For λ = 470 nm = 470*10^-9 m

y_1=\frac{(1)(470*10^{-9}m)(5.50m)}{0.280*10^{-3}m}=0.00923m=0.92cm

An industrial laser is used to burn a hole through a piece of metal. The average intensity of the light is W/m². What is the rms
inn [45]

I think your question should be:

An industrial laser is used to burn a hole through a piece of metal. The average intensity of the light is

S = 1.23*10^9 W/m^2

What is the rms value of (a) the electric field and

(b) the magnetic field in the electromagnetic wave emitted by the laser

Answer:

a) 6.81*10^5 N/c

b) 2.27*10^3 T

Explanation:

To find the RMS value of the electric field, let's use the formula:

E_r_m_s = sqrt*(S / CE_o)

Where

C = 3.00 * 10^-^8 m/s;

E_o = 8.85*10^-^1^2 C^2/N.m^2;

S = 1.23*10^9 W/m^2

Therefore

E_r_m_s = sqrt*{(1.239*10^9W/m^2) / [(3.00*10^8m/s)*(8.85*10^-^1^2C^2/N.m^2)]}

E_r_m_s= 6.81 *10^5N/c

b) to find the magnetic field in the electromagnetic wave emitted by the laser we use:

B_r_m_s = E_r_m_s / C;

= 6.81*10^5 N/c / 3*10^8m/s;

B_r_m_s = 2.27*10^3 T

Describe the gravity and magnetic separation technique using sand as an example
Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

Gravity separation is an industrial method of separating two components, either a suspension, or dry granular mixture where separating the components with gravity is sufficiently practical: i.e. the components of the mixture have different specific materials and Magnetic separations take advantages of natural magnetic properties between minerals in feed. The separation is between economic ore constituents, noneconomic contaminants and gangue. and saw dust can be separated by gravity separation method. The process can be used for separating insoluble substances which are heavier than liquid by allowing them to settle down on their own due to gravity. The mixture of sand and iron can be separated from each other by using a magnet. Iron gets attracted towards a magnet leaving behind the sand.
