The correct answer is the following: option A. After the Slaughterhouse Cases changed the intent of the Fourteenth Amendment, the Supreme Court used the due process clause. In 1873, the Slaughterhouse Cases became the first cases in which the Supreme Court did an interpretation of the 14th Amendment, which had been recently ratified. The Supreme Court used the due process clause, which deals with the administration of justice acting as a safeguard from arbitrary denial of life, liberty and property, done by the government outside of the sanction of a law. It became a historic ruling of the Court in civil rights, because it stated that the Fourteenth Amendment protects the immunities and privileges of citizens of the United States, and not citizens of States.

zlopas [31]

Early modern Protestantism in the Caribbean was distinct from the Catholic Church in the Spanish, Portuguese, and French empires because of its exclusivity. Long debated are the contrasts between Catholic and Protestant slave societies. Famously contrasting the slave systems in Britain and Latin America in 1946, Frank Tannenbaum said that the disparities between them resulted from different legal and moral traditions in early modern Spain and England.

He maintained that the Spanish could capitalise on a well-established slave culture that originated in Latin America through the Justinian code and was heavily influenced by Catholicism.

The Iberian tradition defined a slave as having a "moral personality" and bestowed certain rights and privileges upon them, such as the right to be a member of a Christian community and join in the sacraments, such as marriage and baptism. The passage from slavery to freedom was well defined and largely comprehensible, and manumission was more frequent.

Why can a heavy rain shower cause a large amount of erosion in a desert area?
nekit [7.7K]
In large desert areas it is filled with many roots , roots of trees and vegetation hold the sand to the ground stopping it from moving/eroding, but sand sometimes does move when high wind levels occur *hint sandstorm*
It moves a lot that is why you see hill-shaped sand piling up through deserts.
