Explanation:

Moles of  CH3OH   = 128 gm / 32 gm / mole   = 4 moles

Moles of water   72 gm / 18 gm /mole = 4

Mole fraction of CH3OH  =   4 / ( 4+4) = 4/8 = 1/2
