Answer:

B

Explanation:

It cannot cost more than $150 million to build and send to Mars. This would encompass the high-resolution photo requirement, and operation during dust storms. Anything required would need to be included in the budget of $150 million.

Find the diameter of the test cylinder in which 6660 N force is acting on it with a modulus of elasticity 110 x 103 Pa. The init
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

The diameter of the test cylinder should be 7.65 meters.

Explanation:

The Hooke's law relation between stress and strain is mathematically represented as

Stress=E\times strain\\\\\sigma =e\times \epsilon

Where 'E' is modulus of elasticity of the material

Now by definition of strain we have

\epsilon =\frac{\Delta L}{L_{o}}

Applying values to obtain strain we get

\epsilon =\frac{0.5}{380}=0.001316

Thus the stress developed in the material equals

\sigma = 110\times 10^{3}\times 0.001316=144.76N/m^{2}

Now by definition of stress we have

\sigma =\frac{Force}{Area}\\\\\therefore Area=\frac{Force}{\sigma }\\\\\frac{\pi D^{2}}{4}=\frac{6660N}{144.76}=46m^{2}

Solving for 'D' we get

D=\sqrt{\frac{4\times 46}{\pi }}=7.653meters

Determine the time required for a car to travel 1 km along a road if the car starts from rest, reaches a maximum speed at some i
lbvjy [14]

Total time taken by car to travel 1 km distance is 48.2 seconds

Explanation:

Given data-

Total distance- 1 km= 1000m

Car starts from rest- Hence the initial velocity (u)= 0 m/s

Then, car accelerates at 1.5 m/s ²

Let us suppose with these acceleration car reaches the max speed of V

Car then decelerates at rate of 2 m/s ²

Finally, car comes to rest

We need to consider the question in two parts

Part 1= when car starts from rest and reaches the value V in the time tₐ at the distance s₁.

Part 2= When car starts from V and finally stops at 1 km mark in the time tₙ in distance 1000-s₁.

For the part 1

We know the formula

v= u + a*tₐ

where v= final velocity

u- initial velocity

a= acceleration

tₐ= time period

At the starting u= 0

Hence the equation reduces to V=0+1.5tₐ

Or V= 1.5tₐ                             Eq 1

We also know that s= u*tₐ+ ¹/₂*a*tₐ²

Where s₁= distance covered  (other symbols same meaning)

Since u=0   (u*tₐ=0)

s₁ = ¹/₂*1.5*tₐ²

s₁= ½* 1.5*tₐ²                    -------------Eq 2

Now considering Part 2

Here the case is deceleration hence the equation would change (symbols same)

v= V-a*tₙ     final velocity(v)=0 (car stops finally) & initial velocity (part 2)= V

V= a*tₙ

V=2*tₙ                                 -----------Eq 3

Similarly

1000-s₁= V* tₙ+¹/₂*(-2) *(tₙ)²

1000-s₁= V* tₙ-tₙ²                      -------Eq 4

Comparing Eq 1 and Eq 3

V= 1.5tₐ  and V=2tₙ

1.5tₐ = 2 tₙ

tₐ=1.33 tₙ

Using the above value of tₐ in Eq 1

V= 1.5 tₐ and tₐ= 1.33 tₙ

V= 2tₙ

Similarly from Eq 2 and putting the value of tₙ

s₁= ½*1.5*tₐ²

s₁=  1.33*(tₙ)²

Substituting the above values in equation 4

1000-s₁= V* tₙ-tₙ²

1000- 1.33(tₙ)²=2*(tₙ)*(tₙ)- tₙ²

1000=2.33 (tₙ)²

tₙ=      1000/2.333

tₙ= 20.7 sec

Similarly putting the value of tₙ in tₐ= 1.33 tₙ

tₙ= 27.5 sec

Hence total time is tₐ +tₙ

T= 20.7+27.5= 48.2 sec

What is the velocity of flow in an asphalt channel that has a hydraulic radius of 3.404 m, length of 200 m and bed slope of 0.00
yKpoI14uk [10]

Answer:

The velocity of flow is 10.0 m/s.

Explanation:

We shall use Manning's equation to calculate the velocity of flow

Velocity of flow by manning's equation is given by

V=\frac{1}{n}R^{2/3}S^{1/2}

where

n = manning's roughness coefficient

R = hydraulic radius

S = bed slope of the channel

We know that for an asphalt channel value of manning's roughness coefficient = 0.016

Applying values in the above equation we obtain velocity of flow as

V=\frac{1}{0.016}\times 3.404^{2/3}\times 0.005^{1/2}\\\\\therefore V=10.000m/s

Germanium forms a substitutional solid solution with silicon. Compute the number of germanium atoms per cubic centimeter for a g
brilliants [131]

Answer:

The number of germanium atoms per cubic centimeter for this germanium-silicon alloy is 3.16 x 10²¹ atoms/cm³.

Explanation:

Concentration of Ge (C_{Ge}) = 15%

Concentration of Si (C_{Si}) = 85%

Density of Germanium (ρ_{Ge}) = 5.32 g/cm³

Density of Silicon (ρ_{Si}) = 2.33 g/cm³

Atomic mass of Ge (A_{Ge})= 72.64 g/mol

To calculate the number of Ge atoms per cubic centimeter for the alloy, we will use the formula:

No of Ge atoms/cm³=[Avogadro's Number*C_{Ge}]/([C_{Ge}*A_{Ge}/ρ_{Ge})+(C_{Si}*A_{Ge}/ρ_{Si})]

                              = (6.02x10²³ * 15%) / [(15% * 72.64/5.32)+(72.64*85%/2.33)]

                              = (9.03x10²²)/(2.048+26.499)

                              = (9.03x10²²)/(28.547)

No of Ge atoms/cm³ = 3.16 x 10²¹ atoms/cm³
