Answer:

Salvador's plane travels farthest distance and Jennifer's plane travels shortest distance.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that Marcel's plane travels 3.345 m.

Salvador's plane  travels 3.35 m

Jennifer's plane travels 3.3 m

We have to find whose plane traveled the farthest distance and which plane traveled shortest distance.

We convert given decimal number into like decimal numbers.

3.345 ,3.350,3.300

The unit place of three numbers is same.

The tenth place of three decimal numbers is same.

The hundredth place of 3.345 is 4 , the hundredth place of 3.350 is 5 and the hundredth place of 3.300 is 0.Therefore, the hundredth place of 3.350 is greater than the hundredth place of other two decimal numbers and the hundredth place of 3.300 is less than the other two decimal numbers.

Hence, the number 3.350 is greater than the other and 3.300 is smallest number.

Therefore, Salvador's plane travels farthest distance and Jennifer's plane travels  shortest distance.

Salvador’s plane traveled the farthest distance and Jennifer’s plane traveled the shortest distance.

Further explanation:

Given:

A paper airplane contest was held. Marcel’s plane travels 3.345 meters. Salvador’s plane travels 3.35 meters and Jennifer’s plane travels 3.3 meters.

Explanation:

From place value chart 1 tenths is equal to 10 hundredths as shown below:

\dfrac{1}{{10}}=\dfrac{{10}}{{100}}

Also from place value chart 10 hundredths is equal to 100 thousandths as shown below:

\dfrac{{10}}{{100}}=\dfrac{{100}}{{1000}}

It is given that Marcel’s place travels a distance of 3.345 meters and this can be converted in the form of thousandths as shown below:

3.345=\dfrac{{3345}}{{1000}}

So, Marcel’s plane travels 3345 thousandths distance.

It is also given that Salvador’s plane travels a distance of 3.35 meters and this can be converted in the form of thousandths as shown below:

3.35=3.350=\dfrac{{3350}}{{1000}}

So, Salvador’s plane travels 3350 thousandths distance.

It is given that Jennifer’s plane travels a distance of 3.3 meters and this can also be converted in the form of thousandths as shown below:

3.3=3.300=\dfrac{{3300}}{{1000}}

So, Jennifer’s plane travels a distance of 3300 thousandths distance.

Therefore, from above calculations we can observe that Salvador’s paper plane traveled the farthest distance and Jennifer’s plane traveled the shortest distance.

If f(x) is a linear function, f(−2)=4, and f(1)=−1, find an equation for f(x)
juin [17]

Answer:

y = -\frac{5}{3}x+\frac{2}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

f(-2) = 4

f(1) = -1

Required

The equation of the function

The given parameters means that:

(x_1,y_1) = (-2,4)

(x_2,y_2) = (1,-1)

Calculate the slope (m)

m = \frac{y_2 -y_1}{x_2 -x_1}

m = \frac{-1-4}{1--2}

m = \frac{-5}{3}

The equation is then calculated using:

y = m(x - x_1) + y_1

This gives:

y =\frac{-5}{3}(x--2)+4

y =\frac{-5}{3}(x+2)+4

Open bracket

y = -\frac{5}{3}x-\frac{10}{3}+4

Take LCM

y = -\frac{5}{3}x+\frac{-10+12}{3}

y = -\frac{5}{3}x+\frac{2}{3}
