Answer:

<u>Admission prices are $3 per child and $4 per adult.</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the admission prices for children = x and for adults = y

When the pool had 10 children and 37 adults, which brought in $178

10x + 37y = 178 ⇒(1)

When the pool had 15 children and 23 adults, which brought in $137

15x + 23y = 137 ⇒(2)

Multiplying eq.(1) by 3  ⇒ 30x + 111y = 534 ⇒(3)

Multiplying eq.(2) by 2 ⇒ 30x + 46y = 274 ⇒(4)

Find eq.(3) - eq.(4)

∴ 111y - 46y = 534 - 274

∴ 65y = 260

∴ y = 260/65 = 4

By substitution with y at eq.(1)

10x + 37 * 4 = 178  ⇒ solve for x

10x = 178 - 37*4 = 30

∴ x = 30/10 = 3

<u>So, Admission prices are $3 per child and $4 per adult.</u>

What is the slope of a line parallel to line A?<br><br> A. -4/7<br> B. -7/4<br> C. 4/7<br> D. 7/4
Virty [35]
C. 4/7

Parallel lines have the same slope, so u must find the slope of line a
To find the slope you take two points and use the formula (y2-y1)/x2-x1
The two points given are (-7,0) and (0,4)
To figure it out fill in the formula with the points
Slope= 4-0/0-(-7)
=4/7

<h2>Intersection and Union of Sets</h2><h3>Answer:</h3>

A \cup B = \{ a, b, c, d, e \}

B \cap C = \{ d, e \}

A \cup C = \{ a, b, c, d, e, f \}

<h3>Step-by-step explanation:</h3>

Given:

A = \{ a, b, c, d \}

B = \{ b, d, e \}

C = \{ d, e, f \}

The Union (\cup) of sets A and B is just a set containing all the elements of sets A and B. However, elements that are present in both sets should not repeat in the Union of Sets as the elements of a set should distinct be from each other.

Part i:

A \cup B \\ \{ a, b, c, d \} \cup \{ b, d, e \} \\ \{ a, b, c, d, e \}

The Intersection (\cap) of sets A and B is just a set containing all the elements that are both present in sets A and B.

Part ii:

B \cap C \\ \{ b, d, e \} \cap \{ d, e, f \} \\ \{ d, e \}

Part iii:

A \cup C \\ \{ a, b, c, d, \} \cup \{d, e, f \} \\ \{ a, b, c, d, e, f \}
