Let the number of women = X

Twice as many men atteneded so men would be 2x

Now we have X +2x = 714

Add X and 2x to get 3X

3X = 714

Divide both sides by 3:

X = 714 / 3

X = 238 women attended the concert.

When you look at your choices, we see that 8 is not a factor of 36 and 9 is not a factor of 48. the last choice of 6 is not larger than 6, ...so 12 is the only appropriate answer as it is a factor of 36, 48, and larger than 6.

Estimate by rounding each number to the nearest hundredth and then subtract 360.727 - 89.852
kykrilka [37]
Hi there!

The correct answer for you is 270.88.

To round to the hundreth's place (.01), you need to take the number in the thousand's place (.001), and determine if the number needs to go up or down.

If the number in the thousand's place is greater than 4, then the number goes up.

360.727 --> This means that the hundreth's number goes up to 3.

If the number in the thousand's place is lesser than 5, then that number stays the same.

89.852 --> This means that the hundreth's number stays the same.

After you round, then just subtract:

360.73 - 89.85 = 270.88.

I hope this helps!

Bottles of sparkling water usually cost $1.69. The grocer changed the price to 4 for $5. You bought one bottle last week for $1.
sleet_krkn [62]

Given :

Cost of single bottle, C = $1.69 .

Cost of 4 bottles, B = $5 .

You bought one bottle last week for $1.69 and one bottle this week at the 4 for $5 price.

To Find :

Did you pay more or less for the bottle this week at 4 for $5? How much more or less?

Solution :

Effective price per bottle if we purchase 4 is, E = 5/4 = $1.25 .

Regular price, R = $1.69 .

Change in price, C = $( 1.69 - 1.25 ) = $0.44 .

Therefore, we are paying $0.44 less than the actual price.

Hence, this is the required solution.
