Answer:

a)  γ =0.055556

b)  t = 0.4 MPa

Explanation:

Given:

- The dimensions of rubber block : 18 x 21 x 25

- A load was applied at upper frame P = 420 N

- The rubber deflects dx = 1 mm downwards

Find:

(a) average shear strain in the rubber mounts

(b) average shear stress in the rubber mounts.

Solution:

- For average shear strain we have the definition:

                                 γ = dx / y

Where,

γ: The shear strain.

dx : Deflection along the shear force

y : The length perpendicular to deflection.

- From given data we have dx = 1mm, and the dimension of block perpendicular to deflection is the a dimension. Hence, dx = 0.001 and y =0.018 m:

                                  γ = 0.001 / 0.018 = 0.055556

- The average shear stress along the mating flat surface. We have from definition:

                                   t = F_shear / Area

- Where, F_shear: The shear force on each rubber block is P/2.

Hence,

                                   t = (P/2) / b*c

Plug values in:

                                   t = (420/2) / (0.021*0.025)

                                  t = 0.4 MPa

A 50,0 g silver spoon at 20.0°C is placed in a cup of coffee at
My name is Ann [436]

The heat capacity of the silver spoon at the given temperature difference is 817.65 J.

<h3>Heat capacity of the silver spoon</h3>

The heat capacity of theb silver spoon is the quantity of heat absorbed by the silver spoon. The heat capacity of the silver spoon at the given temperature difference is calculated as follows;

Q = mcΔθ

where;

  • m is mass of the spoon
  • c is specific heat capacity of silver = 0.237 J/g⁰C
  • Δθ is change in temperature

Q = 50 x 0.237 x (89 - 20)

Q = 817.65 J

Thus, the heat capacity of the silver spoon at the given temperature difference is 817.65 J.

A careful photographic survey of Jupiter’s moon Io by the spacecraft Voyager 1 showed active volcanoes spewing liquid sulfur to
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:

529.15 m/s

Explanation:

h = Maximum height = 70000 m

g = Acceleration due to gravity = 2 m/s²

m = Mass of sulfur

As the potential and kinetic energies are conserved

mgh=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2\\\Rightarrow h=\dfrac{v^2}{2g}\\\Rightarrow v=\sqrt{2gh}\\\Rightarrow v=\sqrt{2\times 2\times 70000}\\\Rightarrow v=529.15\ m/s

The speed with which the liquid sulfur left the volcano is 529.15 m/s
