Two 18 x 21 x 25 mm rubber mounts are used to isolate the vibrational motion of a machine from its supports. A 420-N applied loa

d P causes the rigid upper frame (point O) to deflect 1 mm downward. Determine: (a) average shear strain in the rubber mounts, and (b) average shear stress in the rubber mounts.

Answer:

a)  γ =0.055556

b)  t = 0.4 MPa

Explanation:

Given:

- The dimensions of rubber block : 18 x 21 x 25

- A load was applied at upper frame P = 420 N

- The rubber deflects dx = 1 mm downwards

Find:

(a) average shear strain in the rubber mounts

(b) average shear stress in the rubber mounts.

Solution:

- For average shear strain we have the definition:

                                 γ = dx / y

Where,

γ: The shear strain.

dx : Deflection along the shear force

y : The length perpendicular to deflection.

- From given data we have dx = 1mm, and the dimension of block perpendicular to deflection is the a dimension. Hence, dx = 0.001 and y =0.018 m:

                                  γ = 0.001 / 0.018 = 0.055556

- The average shear stress along the mating flat surface. We have from definition:

                                   t = F_shear / Area

- Where, F_shear: The shear force on each rubber block is P/2.

Hence,

                                   t = (P/2) / b*c

Plug values in:

                                   t = (420/2) / (0.021*0.025)

                                  t = 0.4 MPa

A diffraction grating is made up of slits of width = 340 nm with separation = 790 nm. The grating is illuminated by monchromatic
nika2105 [10]

Answer:

angular width is  0.10 degree

Explanation:

Given data

width = 340 nm

separation d = 790 nm

λ = 520 nm

to find out

how many maxima and width of a spectral line

solution

we know for maxima formula is

m λ = dsinθ

and we know here sinθ is between 0 and 1

so we can say

d is greater than m λ

and

m ≤ d / λ

m ≤ 790 / 520

m ≤ 1.52

its mean we have 3 maxima i.e. 0 , 1 and -1

and

for 1st order m = 1

so mλ  = dsinθ

λ  = dsinθ

θ = sin^-1 ( λ/d)   ................................1

and angular width is

θ = λ/ Nd cosθ

θ = dsinθ / Nd cosθ

θ = tanθ /N              ...............................2

so here put θ in 2 equation

angular width = tanθ/N

angular width = tan ( sin^-1 ( 520/790) ) / 500

angular width = tan 41.16 / 500

angular width = 1.7484 × 10^{-3}      × 180/π

angular width =  0.10 degree

A person takes a trip, driving with a constant
podryga [215]
For this problem, we are asked to calculate for the distance traveled. We set up the equations as follows:
Distance = 61 km/hr * (time + 20.8/60 s) Distance = 98.5 km/hr * time

We equate the two equations, then we can solve for the time spent on the trip. Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.

HELP ASAP!! WILL TRY TO GIVE BRAINLIESTT!!
vfiekz [6]

If a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, water will leave the cell, and the cell will shrink. In an isotonic environment, there is no net water movement, so there is no change in the size of the cell. When a cell is placed in a hypotonic environment, water will enter the cell, and the cell will swell.
