Carlos usually spends a lot of time surfing. He values the time he has in the ocean alone with his thoughts and the waves. It’s

something he really feels like he needs. He recently met a very exciting woman named Amy. He is thrilled by the time they spend together, but he feels surfing, a significant part of his identity, is now being neglected. What type of tension is he most likely feeling?

What are some problems facing the Social Security system? Suggest a possible solution, and give one reason to support your solut
olga55 [171]
The problem boils down to money, but I am assuming you are looking for the causes of the problem.

1. Social Security was never indexed correctly to accommodate the growing life expectancy on those drawing on it. The age at which you can collect should have changed in concert with the life expectancy of the population, or the amount of the benefits should have been decreased if they wanted to keep the age at which you receive it from keeping pace with lefe expectancy.

2. The growth in income inequality has led to vast amounts of money being earned by fewer people and the tax on social security has a limit so any income over the limit is not subject to the tax. Right now that cap is around 109k/year...so someone making 125k/year pays the same amount into social security as someone making 10 million a year. As more wealth is concentrated with fewer people, even vast increases in income and/or wealth yields little increase to the amount collected via the SS tax.

3. Not necessarily on the scale as 1 and 2 above but fraud is also a cause of the monetary shortfall. There are those that cheat the system. Every so often you will hear stories of people getting caught in social security fraud rings where they collect either through identity theft or other criminal means. You also have people that will collect when a relative passes away. They will purposely not report the death or provide invalid SS information so they will continue to receive the deceased person's benefits long after they have died.

As far as a solution, you are stuck with the eventuality of either decreasing benefits, raising the retirement age, or increasing the amount of taxes collected...none of which are likely to fly in Congress. Programs like SS rely on growing the base of people from which you are collecting, but at some point this does not happen. Population growth is not automatic and even with population growth, the concentration of income at the top percent of people offsets any such growth. It may be considered a very progressive/liberal thought, but eliminating the cap on income from which SS tax is collected would help. You can still keep the cap on SS benefits meaning the people at the top of the income ladder would be paying far more than they would get out of it in 10 lifetimes...but this would neutralize the income inequality impact on the system. To be honest, if there was an easy solution, we would have done it by now.

Which of the following was NOT a reason for the Indian revolt against the British?
vladimir1956 [14]
Indians had a lurking suspicion that they would be converted to Christianity under the new regime. The fear was largely due to the activities of some of the activities of some Christian missionaries who openly ridiculed the customs and the traditons of both Hindus and Muslims. The English also established Chapels and Churches for propagating Chritianity at the expense of the government. Even civil and military officers were asked to propagate the gospel. The religious sentiments of the people were further hurt when a tax was imposed on property held by temples and mosques.

When setting up resource sharing within a host cluster, which option would you choose to mediate resource contention?
Artist 52 [7]

When setting up resource sharing within a host cluster, Shares option would choose to mediate resource contention.

Resource contention occurs whilst demand exceeds supply for a positive aid. when a couple of techniques require the same aid, one manner reaches the useful resource first, and the other contenders are delayed till the primary finishes using the resource.

A useful resource constraint is any quandary or danger related to resources allocated to initiatives. Identifying these aid control regulations is part of the assignment planning technique. resource constraints can disrupt your project and impede effective delivery.

CPU contention is an event wherein man or woman CPU components and machines in a virtualized hardware machine wait too long for their turn at processing. In such a device, sources (e.g., CPU, reminiscence, and many others.) are allotted among one-of-a-kind virtual machines (VMs).

Does censorship happen here in the United States? Wouldn't that violate our freedom of speech?
velikii [3]

Answer:

Yes. This happens on a minimal or indirect scale

Explanation:

Censorship refers to the measures taken to limit the communication of ideas that are deemed inappropriate especially on moral grounds. These materials could be in written, visual, and oral forms. The First Amendment of the constitution of the United States of America highlights Freedom of Speech for the citizens. The government has made efforts to censor certain materials especially on the internet which has met constant opposition.

The American Civil Liberties Union attests to the fact that several states in the United States of America have censorship laws. These laws are violations of the Freedom of Speech in the First Amendment for they limit people's right to express their views.
