The area of a rectangular wall of a barn is 45 square feet. Its length is 12 feet longer than the width. Find the length and wid
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

Mark as brainliest

Step-by-step explanation:

by using the formula for area:  A= L x W  substitute in what you know:   A = 54  , the length in terms of the width so use

L=12 + 2W.

Now when everything is plugged in you now have:  54 = (12 + 2W) x W

Then use the Distributive Property to simplify:   54 = 12W + 2W2

Since you know have a quadratic to solve get it in the form  ax2+bx + c = 0 so that you can solve it:

You do this by subtracting 54 from both sides and putting the 2W2 first so now it looks like this:

2W2 + 12W -54 = 0

Using the quadratic formula where a =2, b = 12, and c = -54.

Find b2-4ac which is the discriminant:

(12)2-4*2*(-54)=576

Take the square root of 576= 24

Now substitute the rest of the values into the Quadratic Formula:

It will look something like this:   W = (-b plus or minus the square root of the discriminant)/2a

The two possible answers are:

W = (-12 + 24)/4      and  W = (-12 - 24)/4

W = 12/4= 3            and W = -36/4= -9     (This second answer isn't possible because length can't be negative)

So the answer is:

Width = 3 feet        Length = 12 + 2W = 12 + 2*3= 12 + 6 = 18 feet

This checks because A = L x W     and  54 = 18 x 3

Need help with this pls <br> (Show work pls!!)
Aleksandr-060686 [28]
This is my first time on this app but this question doesn’t look to hard i’m ok at math but not that good at showing my work

Isosceles triangles have to equal sides

and each side is 5 cm greater than the base

you know the perimeter is 46

i would use basic algebra

x = base

46 = 2(x +5) + x

the 2(x +5) is the equal sides

46 = 2(x+5) + x

using distributive property

46 = 2x + 10 + x

add the common variable

46 = 3x + 10

now it’s easy

3x = 46 - 10

3x = 36

x = 36 / 3

x = 12

now that we got x (base)

we know that the equal sides are 5 cm longer than the base

12 + 5 = 17

since there are 2 sides and they are equal they are both 17

so each side of the triangle would be
1. 17 cm
2. 17 cm
3. 12 cm

to check you should be able to add them all together and get 46

17 + 17 + 12 = 46

Triangle A is a scaled version of triangle B. The dimensions of triangle B are twice the dimensions of triangle A. The area of
jasenka [17]

Answer:

576 sq cm

Step-by-step explanation:

For example imagine a rectangle, the area of which is width * height = area

If you multiply the dimensions by 2 you multiply the width AND the height which is 2 * width * 2 * height = 4 * width * height

This is true for all scalings, if you times the dimensions by n, you times the area by n^2

144 * 2^2 = 576
