(See full question in attachment)

Answer:

A. MeONa

Explanation:

One of the methods to prepare alkenes are eliminations.

The E2 reaction (for elimination, bimolecular) occurs when an alkyl halide is treated with a strong base, such as hydroxide ion or alkoxide ion (RO⁻).

It is the most common mechanism that occurs for an elimination.

The methoxide ion is a strong base that will attack the neighboring hydrogen of the halide ion and will start removing H⁺ at the same time that the double bond of the alkene begins to form and the group X begins to leave.

Then, the neutral alkene is produced when the C – H link and X group has left with the electron pair of the bond C – X (mechanism in attachment).

Therefore, MeONa would be an appropiate reagent.

Consider a 175.7 g sample of the compound manganese(IV) perchlorate.
kramer

Answer:

6.21 moles O

Explanation:

To find the moles of oxygen, you need to (1) convert grams Mn(ClO₄)₄ to moles Mn(ClO₄)₄ (via molar mass) and then (2) convert moles Mn(ClO₄)₄ to moles O (via mole-to-mole ratio from formula subscripts). It is important to arrange the conversions/ratios in a way that allows for the cancellation of units.

Molar Mass (Mn(ClO₄)₄): 452.74 g/mol

1 Mn(ClO₄)₄ = 1 Mn and 4 Cl and 16 O

175.7 g Mn(ClO₄)₄ 1 mole 16 moles O
--------------------------- x ------------------- x --------------------------- = 6.21 moles O
                                       452.74 g 1 mole Mn(ClO₄)₄

With 143.6 grams of acetylene and an excess amount of oxygen gas, what is the percent yeild of carbon dioxide if the actual yiel
nata0808 [166]

Answer:

93.28%

Explanation:

To solve the percent yield we need to find theoretical yield:

Percent yield = Actual Yield (452.78g) / Theoretical yield * 100

Theoretical yield is obtained converting the mass of acetylene to moles and using the balanced equation determine the moles of CO₂ produced assuming a 100% of reaction:

Moles acetylene (Molar mass: 26.04g/mol)

143.6g C₂H₂ * (1mol / 26.04g) = 5.515 moles C₂H₂

Moles CO₂:

5.515 moles C₂H₂ * (4 moles CO₂ / 2mol C₂H₂) = 11.029moles CO₂

Mass CO₂ (Molar mass: 44.01g/mol):

11.029moles CO₂ * (44.01g / mol) = 485.39g CO₂ is theoretical yield

Percent yield is:

Percent yield = 452.78g / 485.39g * 100

= 93.28%

The biosphere of the earth is made up of _______compounds.
A. Inorganic
B. Organic
KATRIN_1 [288]

Answer:

B.

Explanation:

When we say "biosphere", we're referring to the atmosphere, geosphere, lithosphere and hydrosphere, and everything in them. You've probably heard of these in class as the "pillars of Earth" or the "pillars of our planet". In other words, when we talk about biosphere we're talking about life.

Organic compounds are all of the compounds that contain carbon, C, in them. You might know that CHNOPS* are the "7 molecules of life", and you might have noticed that Carbon stands first in the list, and that's not because it makes up a mnemonic, Carbon is indeed the most important one in many ways.

*Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Phosphorus and Sulfur.

Hope it helped,
