Two cars, 540 kilometers apart, begin driving toward each other on a long, straight highway. one car travels 75 kilometers pe

r hour and the other 105 kilometers per hour. at the same time, a canary, starting on one car, flies back and forth between the two cars as they approach each other. if the canary flies 100 kilometers per hour and spends no time to turn around at each car, how far has it flown when the cars collide?

One car travels at a speed of 75 kilometers per hour and the other car travels at a speed of 105 kilometers per hour.

Since both the cars are travelling towards each other their combined speed will be: 75+105=180 km/h.

Now, since the distance between the cars to start with is 540 km. Therefore, the time taken before the cars collide is:

t=\frac{540}{180} =3 hours.

Now, the speed of the canary is 100 km/h.

Therefore, the Canary flies flies for (100 km/h)x(3 hours) = 300 km before the cars collide.

Three years after paying $2800 in a startup company, you sell for $2200. The total percent return is what?
masha68 [24]

Answer:

The total percentage return is 26.19

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The amount paid for three years = $ 2800

So, Total amount paid for three years = $ 2800 × 3 = $ 8400

The return amount after three years = $ 2200

The time period = 3 years

Let the percentage return = x %

So, According to question

x % of $ 8400 = $ 2200

Or, x % = \frac{2200}{8400}

Or, \frac{x}{100} = \frac{11}{42}

∴  x = \frac{11}{42} × 100

I.e x = 26.19

Hence The total percentage return is 26.19 Answer

Allen traveled for 7 hours at a constant rate of 40 miles per hour. Anna traveled the same distance at a constant rate of 50 mil
TEA [102]

Here is the correct order of the step:

Identify: Anna's time is the unknown

Strategize : let x = Anna's time

Set up : 7(40) = x(50)

Solve: x = 5.6

Check: 7(40) = 5.6(50)

<h3>What is Anna's time?</h3>

The first step is to determine the distance Allen travelled:

Distance = average speed x time

40 x 7 = 280 miles

The second step is to determine the time it took Anna to travel 280 miles.

Time = distance / average speed

280 / 50 = 5.6 hours
