Prenatal maternal stress is define as the chronic and extreme stress that a mother experiences during her pregnancy. In which the stress can be acute or severe leading linked to sudden changes in
the women's daily routine .
Some of the side effects of prenatal maternal stress are preterm birth, infant mortality and low birthweight. The Stress may have an implications on the maternal and the infant health and the stress hormones flooding her body may damage the developing fetus.
Prenatal maternal stress can be caused by stressful events or hardships which in turn changes the mother's hormonal and immune system which may harm the fetus's immune function and brain development as well.
