The base of the box is b ft by b ft and the height is h ft.
Since the volume is 40 ft³,
h = 40/b²

area of bottom = area of top = b² ft²
area of one side = bh
cost C = 2·4b² + 4·7bh
= 8b² + 28b(40/b²)
= 8b² + 1120/b
dC/db = 16b - 1120/b²

min cost when dC/db = 0
16b = 1120/b²
b = ∛70 ≅ 4.12 ft
h = 40/b² ≅ 2.36 ft

What is the greatest number of 19 cent stickers that can be purchased with a $20 bill, assuming there is no sales tax?
user100 [1]

Answer:

105

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you are going to convert dollars to cents. Since there are 100 cents in a dollar, multiple $20 by 100. Now you should have 2,000 cents. Now all you have to do is divide by 19, the cost of the stamps, and you should get 105.26. Because you can't by part of a stamp your answer would be 105.

Given the following rectangle and circle, at what approximate value of x are the two areas equal? Show work and explain all step
suter [353]

Answer:

x ≈ 1.28

Step-by-step explanation:

I just took the exam:

Area of rectangle =(3x-1)(x+6), Area of circle = PI(x+1)^2. If you graph these and find where they intersect, you will get x ≈ 1.28.

I hope this helped! :)
