What mass of calcium hydroxide is formed when 10.0g of calcium oxide reacts with 10.0g of water?
nexus9112 [7]

The mass of calcium hydroxide that is formed when 10.0 g of CaO reacts with  10.0 g of water is 13.024 grams

calculation

from the equation

CaO + H2O → Ca(OH)2,

 1 moles of CaO reacted with 1 moles of H2O to form 1 moles of Ca(OH)2

find the moles of each reactant

moles=mass/molar mass

moles of CaO= 10 g/56 g/mol=0.179 moles

moles of H2O = 10 g/18 g/mol 0.556  moles

CaO is the limiting reagent  therefore by use of mole ratio of CaO:Ca(OH)2 which is 1:1 moles of Ca(OH)2 is = 0.179 moles

mass= moles x molar mass

= 0.176 moles x  74 g/mol = 13.024  grams

The total thermal energy of a system depends jointly on the temperature, total number of in the system _______________, and the
myrzilka [38]

Answer:

Molecules/State

Explanation:

We know from the kinetic molecular theory that matter is made up of molecules. These molecules are in constant motion at various velocities and energies.

The total thermal energy refers to the total kinetic energies of these particles. It depends on the temperature of the system, the energies of the molecules present in the material and the arrangement of the object's molecules (states of matter).

Hydrogen gas is collected over water in an inverted buret. If the atmospheric pressure is 745 mm Hg, the vapor pressure of water
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer:

P_{H_2}=727mmHg

Explanation:

Hello there!

In this case, according to the given data, it is possible to infer that the gas mixture lies on the 15.0 cm-high column of water, so that the total pressure or atmospheric pressure is given by:

P_{atm}=P_{water}+P_{H_2}

Thus, since the atmospheric pressure is 745 mmHg and the vapor pressure of water is 18 mmHg, the pressure of hydrogen turns out to be:

P_{H_2}=P_{atm}-P_{water}\\\\P_{H_2}=745mmHg-18mmHg\\\\P_{H_2}=727mmHg

Best regards!
