Answer:

25 questions

Step-by-step explanation:

At a math competition 2 students can answer 40 questions in 1 hour.

Therefore, 1 student can answer in 1 hour =  \frac{40}{2}

                                                                     = 20 questions

5 students can answer in 1 hour = 20 × 5 = 100 questions

60 minutes = 1 hour

15 minutes =  \frac{15}{60} = 0.25 hours

5 students can answer in 0.25 hours = 100 × 0.25

                                                              = 25 questions

5 students could answer 25 questions in 15 minutes.

A sphere with a radius of 5 cm fits inside a box. Every face of the box is tangent to the sphere. What is the ratio of the volum
BARSIC [14]
Volume of box with side length of 5 = 5^3 = 125

Volume of sphere = (4/3)*pi*5^3 = (4/3)pi * 125

Ratio = 125/(4pi/3)*125  = 1/(4pi/3) = 3/(4pi)

The 17th term of an Arithmetic sequence is 51. If the commons difference is 7, what is the first term ?
vovikov84 [41]

Answer:

The first term is:

  • a_1=-61

Step-by-step explanation:

The arithmetic sequence is defined by

a_n=a_1+\left(n-1\right)d

where

a_1 is the first term

d is the common difference

as

the 17th term of an arithmetic sequence is 51.

i.e. a_{17}=51

so

a_n=a_1+\left(n-1\right)d

a_{17}=a_1+\left(17-1\right)d

51=a_1+\left(17-1\right)7         ∵ n = 17, a_{17}=51 , d=7

a_1+112=51                   ∵ \left(17-1\right)\cdot \:\:7=112

a_1=-61

Therefore, the first term is:

  • a_1=-61
