Para and ortho is actually indicating different name structure of mixture. So if structure is different then boiling/distill/melt temprature will be also different.

When an acid is dissolved in water, how does it change the solution's ph?
iren2701 [21]

When an acid is dissolved in water, by releasing protons into the solution, it lowers the pH.

What is pH?

The letters pH stand for the potential of hydrogen since pH is essentially a measurement of the number of hydrogen ions (i.e. protons) in a substance. The pH scale was created in 1923 by scientist Peter Lauritz Srensen. (1868-1969).

The pH of a solution is a key marker of its chemical makeup. The pH can have an impact on the biological processes that take place, the behavior of bacteria, and the behavior of chemicals.

In a chemical reaction, substrate molecule A is broken down to form one molecule of product B and one molecule of product C. The
MAVERICK [17]

Answer:

The answer to your question is d. 0.5 M

Explanation:

Data

[A] = 1M

K = 0.5

Concentration of B and C at equilibrium = x

Concentration of A at equilibrium = 1 - x

Equation of equilibrium

                                       k = \frac{[B][C]}{A}

Substitution

                                       0.5 = \frac{[x][x]}{1 - x}

Simplification

                                       0.5 = \frac{x^{2}}{1 - x}

Solve for x

                                      0.5(1 - x) = x²

                                      0.5 - 0.5x = x²

                                       x² + 0.5x - 0.5 = 0

Find the roots             x₁ = 0.5     x₂ = -1

There are no negative concentrations so the concentration of A at equilibrium is

                       [A] = 1 - 0.5

                             = 0.5 M

Predict the sign of the entropy change of the system for each of the following reactions. (a) N2(g)+3H2(g)→2NH3(g) (b) CaCO3(s)→
Andrew [12]

Answer:

a. Negative

b. Positive

c. Negative

d. zero

Explanation:

Entropy is measure of disorder. Positive entropy implies that a system is becoming more disordered. The opposite is true.

(a) N2(g)+3H2(g) → 2NH3(g) Negative because the system is becoming less disordered since the number of gaseous moles is decreasing

(b) CaCO3(s)→CaO(s)+CO2(g)  Positive because a solid produces a gas which is more disorder therefore there is an increase in entropy

(c) 3C2H2(g)→C6H6(g) Negative because the number of moles of a gas decrease meaninng there is less disorder

(d) Al2O3(s)+3H2(g) → 2Al(s)+3H2O(g) zero because the gaseous moles do not change
