Elements are made of one type of atoms. Elements have characteristic symbols for their identification.
1) Bi(NO₃)₃ - this is made of 3 elements - Bismuth , Nitrogen and oxygen
2) KOH - made of 3 elements - potassium (K), oxygen and hydrogen
3) NaClO₃ - made of 3 elements - sodium (Na), chlorine and Oxygen
4) Al₂S₃ - made of 2 elements - Aluminium and sulphur
we are asked for the formula with 2 elements , correct answer is 4)

A 1.00-L gas sample at 100.°C and 500. torr contains 52.0% helium and 48.0% xenon by mass. What are the partial pressures of the
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:

Partial pressure of He=486 torr, partial pressure of Xe= 14 torr

Explanation:

Using the equation, PV=nRT----------------------------------------(1)

Making n the subject of the formula;

n= PV/RT---------------------(2)

Where n= number of moles, v= volume, T= temperature, P= volume.

n= (500 torr/760 torr × 1 atm)× 1L ÷ 373K ×0.082 L atmK^-1. Mol^-1

n= 0.6579 atm.L/ 30.6233

n= 0.0215 mol.

Let the total mass of the gas= 2b(in g).

Mass of helium gas = b (in g) = mass of Xenon gas

Mole of helium gas= b(in g) / 4 gmol^-1

=b/4 mol

Mole of Xenon= b g/131.3 gmol^-1

= b/131.3 mol.

Solving for b, we have;

b/4+b/131.3 = 0.0215 mole

(131.3+4)b/525.2= 0.0215

Multiply both sides by 1/135.3.

b= 11.2918/135.3

b= 0.0835 g

Mole of He gas= 0.0835/4= 0.0209

Mole of Xe gas= 0.0215- 0.0209

= 0.0006 mol

Mole fraction of He = 0.0209/0.0215

= 0.972

Mole fraction of Xe= 0.0006/0.0215

= 0.028

Partial pressure of He gas= 0.972× 500 torr= 486 torr

Partial pressure of Xe gas= 0.028 ×500 torr = 14 torr

balloon that had a volume of 3.50 L at 25.0°C is placed in a hot room at 40.0°C. If the pressure remains constant at 1.00 atm, w
kotegsom [21]

Answer:

The answer to your question is V2 = 3.7 L

Explanation:

Data

Volume 1 = 3.5 L

Temperature 1 = 25°C

Temperature 2 = 40°C

Pressure = cte.

Volume 2 = ?

Formula

To solve this problem use the Charles' law

             V1/T1 = V2/T2

- Solve for V2

             V2 = V1T2 / T1

- Convert temperature to °K

Temperature 1 = 25 + 273 = 298°K

Temperature 2 = 40 + 273 = 313°K

- Substitution

              V2 = (3.5)(313) / 298

- Simplification

              V2 = 1095.5 / 298

- Result

              V2 = 3.7 L

Benzoic acid is in the process of being recrystallized. Your lab partner is in a hurry and after the impure benzoic acid is diss
bazaltina [42]

Answer:

Impurities will be trapped in the crystals of the benzoic acid crystallized in this manner.

Explanation:

After benzoic acid is dissolved in hot water, it should have been allowed to cool gradually before it is transferred into an ice bath.

This gradual cooling will aid the separation of impurities so that when the vessel is now submerged in an ice bath, only pure benzoic acid is recrystalized.

If the vessel is immediately submerged into an ice bath, impurities will be trapped in the crystals of the benzoic acid.
