Thepotemich [5.8K]

Just World Phenomenon. Mary tells you that she thinks the reason people live in poverty is because they are lazy. Mary's thinking is an example of the Just World Phenomenon.

Explanation:

The Just World phenomenon is generally a belief of people that the world is Just, and what reaches someone is what he or she deserves. People generally believe that the world is fair and if something wrong happens with someone, it is truly because of that person's own fault. This is the irrational and illogical approach to rationalize the injustice of the world where people usually blame the person who is actually a victim.

Just like stated in this question, Mary thinks that people who live in poverty are just because they are lazy and don't want to work. Rather the real situation is often the opposite of it. People want to work but they don't get opportunities to get work. It is very easy to point fingers on people but when it comes to their own selves, it becomes so hard to bear. Everyone knows his situation better than others. No body knows that what are the situations a person is going through. So blaming the person for the failure is totally irrational and unjustified.

Does anybody know why capitalism a free-market economy????
oee [108]
Well, capitalism is not always a free-market economy.

A typical capitalism is a free-market economy, which means that the market itself (buyer and sellers) can decide the prizes and terms of services.

In capitalism, the capital is privately, and not state owned. But capitalism can also come in other forms: of social democracy with partially free market, and with other forms which include corporations having controls over the market.

Which of the following problems faced tenement dwellers? Select all that apply.
Blababa [14]

Tenements were the houses built for the immigrants that arrived US during 1840 and 1850. Tenements are the urban dwellings but it does not meet the standard of a good sanitary life or poor sanitation.

Explanation:

Impoverished and undernourished families live in testaments. They are apartment house which fail to meet the sanitary standards, safety and comfort too. Trash piled up and garbage littered on the streets, poor sewage system also contribute to the spread of hazardous and contagious diseases.

Air quality also proves to be terrible. there was lack of fresh running water. Tenements housed more than one family in the same apartment. Unsanitary conditions always prevail which is not good for health. These were the housing facilities offered to immigrants until the implementation of new deal Programs.

Why is the government a key part of society? If there was no government, how would this affect society? Explain your reasoning.
pantera1 [17]

This is a very philosophical question, so it requires your own opinions and reasoning. I will help as much as I can for you to develop your thoughts, but I cannot write them for you.

One of the most important things for you to reference in question two is the natural state of man. How was it like? Are we peaceful and individualistic, as John Locke states in Two Treatise of Government, or are humans selfish and natural life would be "nasty, brutish, and short" as Nicolo Machiavelli and Thomas Hobbes state in The Prince and The Leviathan (respective titles)? Why is this so?

These philosophers also give a reason as to why government is necessary for humankind. For Locke, it is to protect the people from larger threats. For Hobbes, it is to make man civilized. For Machiavelli, it is for a leader to align their self-interest with those of the people and make a prosperous community.

If you need any more help, ask me! I hope this helps :)
