If the volume of a confined gas is doubled while the temperature remain constant, what change (if any) would be observed in the
dimulka [17.4K]

The gas will obey Boyles Law:

P1 V1 = P2 V2      where P1 and V1 are the original pressure and volume and P2 and V2 are the new  values.

If V2 = 2V1  (given) then:

P1 V1 = P2 *2 V1

P2 = P1 V1 / 2V1

P2 = P1 / 2

In other words the pressure is halved. (answer).

The reaction for the formation of gaseous hydrogen fluoride (HF) from molecular hydrogen (H2) and fluorine (F2) has an equilibri
mestny [16]

Answer:

[H2]eq = 0.0129 M

[F2]eq = 1.0129 M

[HF]eq = 0.9871 M

Explanation:

  • H2(g) + F2(g) ↔ 2HF(g)

∴ Ke = [HF]² / [H2]*[F2] = 1.15 E2

experiment:

∴ n H2 = 3.00 mol

∴ n F2 = 6.00 mol

∴ V sln = 3.00 L

⇒ [H2]i = 3.00 mol / 3.00 L = 1 M

⇒ [F2]i = 6.00 mol / 3.00 L = 2 M

        [ ]i    change      [ ]eq

H2     1         1 - x         1 - x

F2     2        2 - x         2 - x

HF     -            x              x

⇒ K = (x)² / (1 - x)*(2 - x) = 1.15 E2

⇒ x² / (2 - 3x + x²) = 1.15 E2 = 115

⇒ x² = (2 - 3x + x²)(115)

⇒ x² = 230 - 345x + 115x²

⇒ 0 = 230 - 345x + 114x²

⇒ x = 0.9871

equilibrium:

⇒ [H2] = 1 - x = 1 - 0.9871 = 0.0129 M

⇒ [F2] = 2 - x = 2 - 0.9871 = 1.0129 M

⇒ [HF] = x = 0.9871 M

The 85.2-g sample of the compound x4o10 contains 48.0 g of oxygen atoms. what is the molar mass of element x?
Vedmedyk [2.9K]
X4O10
Let molar mass of X be y
molar mass =  4y + 10 x 16 = 4y+160

so, moles = 85.2 / (4y+160)

Moles of oxygen = 10 x [85.2 / (4y+160) ]
Mass of oxygen  = 16 x 10 x [85.2 / (4y+160) ]
which is 48.0

so, 48 = 16 x 10 x [85.2 / (4y+160) ]

Solve the equation to get y.

y = 31

Which parts (postulates) of Dalton's atomic theory has been modified in light of later discoveries
professor190 [17]

Explanation:

1) Atoms can not be subdivided. It has been changed as it is possible to divide an atom into Protons, Neutrons and Electrons as well as other smaller particles.

2) The regulations for the chemical mixture have always been altered to the rules for the chemical combination in the creation of organic compounds may be denied.

3)Atoms are of a particular element are identical in all respects i. e. they have same mass and similar properties.

It was modified. And according. to new search;

Atoms of the same element may not be always identical.
