This is a <em>rational </em>number!

An irrational number has repeating values or just random numbers after the decimal point.

Here's an example...

Tell, does this number look rational?

<em>4.2359712309458730495870192354870394587234098657293085412364781236409584790853467923456790324785098234570923845702398547 (and it goes on forever...and ever...and ever......)
</em>
<em />I'm quite sure that whatever that number is, it is not a rational one!

But, does this number look rational?

<em>150.594.
</em>
<em />Well, it terminates. That's the important part there, this number <em>terminates. </em>If the decimals never <em><u /></em>terminate, the number is irrational. =)

What is the maximum number of regions formed by 3 circles and 2 straight lines?
frez [133]
The answer is 10.

This is because only one of the circles can be split into 4 sections due to their being an intersection in that circle. The rest may have both lines running through their length splitting them into 3 sections each.

Chris made 4 times as many putts as Paul made at golf practice. Together, they made 60 putts. Which equation below can be used t
alukav5142 [94]

Answer:

A) 5p = 60

Step-by-step explanation:

Since Chris and Paul both made putts totaling 60 and Chris made '4 times as many as Paul', setting up an equation with one variable makes the most sense:

p = number of putts for Paul

4p = number of putts for Chris

4p + p = 60

Combine like terms: 5p = 60

What is the value of the expression ?
zubka84 [21]

The value of this expression is 3 x 10^{6}

In order to find this, you divide each term separately. First we'll start with the numbers in the front.

\frac{4.8}{1.6} = 3

Now that we have the first number, we look to the 10s and the powers they are raised to. Since we are looking at powers of the same number, we can use the properties of exponents to simply subtract the numbers they are raised to.

\frac{10^{9}}{10^{3}}  = 10^{6}

Then we put the two back together for the final answer.

3 x 10^{6}
