Adrian 80.0kg jumps out of an airplane at an altitude of 1.00×10^3m. After his parechute deploys, the adrian lands with a veloci

ty of 5.00m/s. Using the work kinetic energy theorem, find the energy that was lost to air resistence to during this jump. (g=9.81m/s^2)

-- Before Adrian left the airplane, his gravitational potential energy was

(mass) x (gravity) x (height) = (80kg) x (9.81m/s²) x (1,000m) = 784,800 joules

-- When he reached the ground, his kinetic energy was

(1/2) x (mass) x (speed)² = (40kg) x (5m/s)² = 1,000 joules

-- Between the airplane and the ground, the Adrian lost

(784,800 joules) - (1,000 joules) = 783,800 joules

Where did all that energy go ?
Energy never just disappears.  If it's missing, it had to go somewhere.

The Adrian used  783,800 joules of energy to push air our of his way
so that he could continue his parachute jump, and reach the ground
in time to be home for dinner.

A lever has a mechanical advantage of 5.4. If you apply a force of 500 N to the lever, how much force does the lever apply to th
Yanka [14]

Force applied by the lever to the object=2700 N

Explanation:

Mechanical advantage= \frac{LOAD}{EFFORT}

mechanical advantage= 5.4

effort force= 500 N

we need the load force

5.4= load/500

load=2700 N

Thus the force applied by the lever to the object=2700 N

What is the same about the EM categories? What is different?
cricket20 [7]

Answer:

All 3 are CSS unit sizes which we can use for margins, fonts, borders etc.

Exp

CSS has four different unit sizes. These are:

Pixels (px)

Points (pt)

Ems (em)

Percentages(%)

These units are divided into two different groups. They are fixed and relative.

Pixels and points are fixed , whereas em and percentages are relative unit sizes. Relative unit sizes are good when creating scalable layouts.

Ems (em):

An em is a CSS unit that measures the size of a font. Originally, the em was equal to the width of the capital letter M, which is where its name originated.

It stands for "emphemeral unit" which is relative to the current font size.

The "em" is a scalable unit that  is used in web document media. Ems have mobile-device-friendly nature.

Pixels (px):

Pixels are fixed-size units that are used in screen media. One pixel is equal to one dot in computer. The problem with pixel unit is that it is not relative .

Points (pt):

Point values are only for print. A point is a unit of measurement use for real-life ink on paper. Generally, 72pts= 1 inch which is one real-life inch like on  a ruler. Point  is not recommended to use in web pages.

Generally, 1em=16px=12pt=100% if the body size is 100%.

Relative unit sized fonts change and fixed unit sized fonts remain the same.

For example,

body { font-size: 100%}

p{font-size: 16px}

What is necessary for the production and transmission of sound?
Setler79 [48]
Vibration of a certain medium is necessary for the production of sound. For example vibratuon in the guitar's strings, vibration in vocal chord (when humans are speaking) etc etc.
Sound energy is the form of waves. Thus it requires a specific media to transmit itself. For instance sound travels fastest in solids. Sound also travels in liquids and air (gases). However, if there is no medium present. Sound will not travel.

A gold bar contains 63.0 mol of gold, Au(s). How many atoms of gold are in the bar?
vredina [299]

Answer:

63.0 x (6.02 x 10^23) = 3.79 x 10^25 atoms of gold

Explanation:

There are 6.02 x 10^23 representative particles in a mole of any substance. Multiply it by the number of moles, and you will get the number of representative particles (atoms, molecules, formula units)
