The radius and time period of orbit of a sattellite are related by the formula:
R³ = GMT²/4π²; where R is the orbital radius, T is the orbital time period, M is the mass of the more massive body, G is the graviational constant
(9.4 x 10⁶)³ = (6.674 × 10⁻¹¹<span>)(M)(2.8 x 10</span>⁴<span>)</span>²<span> / (4</span>π²)
M = 6.27 x 10²³ kg

The mass of the planet Mars is \boxed{6.27\times{{10}^{23}}\,{\text{kg}}} .

Further Explanation:

Given:

The time period of rotation of the satellite is 2.8 \times{10^4}\,{\text{s}} .

The orbital radius of the satellite about the planet is 9.4\times{10^6}\,{\text{m}} .

Concept:

The relation between the mass of the planet, time period of rotation of its satellite and the orbital radius of the satellite is given by the Kepler’s third Law of planetary motion. According to this law, the square of time period of the satellite is directly proportional to the cube of the radius of the circular path of the satellite.

The Kepler’s third law is expressed mathematically as:

{T^2}=\left({\frac{{4{\pi^2}}}{{GM}}}\right){R^3}

Here, T  is the time period of rotation of the satellite for the planet,   G is the gravitational constant, M  is the mass of the planet and R  is the orbital radius of the satellite.

The value of the gravitational constant G  is 6.67\time {10^{-11}}\,{{{\text{N}}\cdot{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}}\mathord{\left/{\vphantom{{{\text{N}}\cdot{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}}{{\text{k}}{{\text{g}}^{\text{2}}}}}}\right.\kern-\nulldelimiterspace}{{\text{k}}{{\text{g}}^{\text{2}}}}}

Substitute the values of T , G and R  in above expression.

\begin{aligned}\left(2.8\times10^{4}\right)^{2}&=\left(\dfrac{4\times(3.14)^{2}}{(6.767\times10^{-11})M}\right)(9.4\times10^{6})^{3}\\M&=\dfrac{4\times(3.14)^{2}\times(9.4\times10^{6})^{3}}{(6.67\times10^{-11})(2.8\times10^{4})^{2}}\\&=\dfrac{3.279\times10^{22}}{5.229\times10^{-2}}\\&=6.27\times10^{23}\text{ Kg}\end{aligned}

Thus, the mass of the planet Mars is \boxed{6.27\times{{10}^{23}}\,{\text{kg}}}

In a double‑slit interference experiment, the wavelength is lambda=487 nm , the slit separation is d=0.200 mm , and the screen i
pantera1 [17]

Answer:

Δx = 4.68 x 10⁻³ m = 4.68 mm

Explanation:

The distance between the consecutive maxima, in Young's Double Slit Experiment is given bu the following formula:

Δx = λD/d

So, the distance between the eighth order maximum and the fourth order maximum on the screen will be given as:

Δx = 4λD/d

where,

Δx = distance between eighth order maximum and fourth order maximum=?

λ = wavelength = 487 nm = 4.87 x 10⁻⁷ m

d = slit separation = 0.2 mm = 2 x 10⁻⁴ m

D = Distance between slits and screen = 48 cm = 0.48 m

Therefore,

Δx = (4)(4.87 x 10⁻⁷ m)(0.48 m)/(2 x 10⁻⁴ m)

<u>Δx = 4.68 x 10⁻³ m = 4.68 mm</u>

A ball rolls with a speed of 2.0m/s across a level table that is 1.0m above the floor. Upon reaching the edge of the table it fo
Mekhanik [1.2K]

Answer:0.58 m

Explanation:

The initial velocity of the ball is u = 2.0 m/s

The height of the table is, h = 1.0 m

The ball falls in vertical direction under acceleration due to gravity.

Time taken for ball to hit the floor:

h= ut + 0.5gt² ( from the equation of motion)

1.0 m=2.0 m/s × t+0.5 × 9.8 m/s²× t²

Solving this for t,

t = 0.29 s ( we have neglected the negative value of t)

In the same time, the ball would cover a horizontal distance of :

s = u t

⇒s = 2.0 m/s×0.29 s = 0.58 m

Thus, the landing spot is 0.58 m away from the table.
