To get this, you divide the smaller number by the larger one and get 0.5882... 500 is about 59% of 850, so to find the percent lost, you subtract that from 100 to get 41% decrease

Solve the equation below:
oee [108]
Remember the chain rule.
L(x)=f(g(x))

L'(x)=f'(g(x))g'(x)

take the derivative of f(g(x)). just treat them like they are variables. so you get:

h'=f'(g(x))g'(x)

now plug in your x value and evaluate:

h'(1)=f'(g(1))(g'(1))

substitute in values that you know and evaluate again
h'(1)=f'(3)(-3)

h'(1)=(-5)(-3)=15

Wayne has a recipe on a 3 inch by 5 inch index card that he wants to    enlarge to 15 inches long. How wide will the enlargement
SVETLANKA909090 [29]
I'm not completely sure which way they would like for you to do it
but anyways

3 to 15 is a times 5
so 5 times 5 is 25
so a possible width can be 25
as in 15 by 25

or

5 to 15 is times 3
so 3 times 3 is 9
so a possible width can be 9
as in 15 by 9

I personally think 25 inches wide would be the better answer

toni can carry up to 20lbs in her backpack. her lunch weighs 0.75lbs, her gym clothes weigh 2.3lbs,and her books b weigh 3.4lbs
Oxana [17]

let her lunch = l, her gym clothes = g, her books = x

20 pounds is the amount she can carry

her lunch (1) weighs 0.75 lbs

her clothes (1) weighs 2.3 lbs

her books (x) = 3.4 lbs

Set the inequality

3.4x + 2.3 + 0.75 ≤ 20

Simplify

3.4x + 3.05 ≤ 20

3.4x + 3.05 (-3.05)  ≤ 20 (-3.05)

3.4x ≤ 16.95

3.4x/3.4 ≤ 16.95/3.4

x ≤ 4.99 (rounded)

x ≤ 4.99 can be one of your inequalities.

her books can weigh up to 4.99 pounds before her backpack breaks

hope this helps
