Well, you could connect it to a circuit and run a current through it to see if it conducts it. To do this you'd need:
- A power source (ie- power pack)
- An ammeter, crocodile clips
- The fake gold
 
Set them all up in series and turn on the power pack, if it conducts electricity then a reading will show on the ammeter because the circuit has been connected
