The nurse is caring for a client who is taking a sustained-release (sr) oral nitrate. how should the nurse instruct this client
11111nata11111 [884]

That it should be taken with water.

To prevent overdosing, SR forms should reach the gastrointestinal (GI) tract intact, thus give them to patients with water and advise them not to chew or crush them. They are ingested whole rather than being dissolved sublingually. It is preferable to take them one hour before meals, on an empty stomach.

Both angina and congestive heart failure are treated with oral nitrates. In the United States, more than 12 million prescriptions for the long-term use of oral nitrates were written in 1993. There are now three nitrate substances on the market in the United States: nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, and most recently, isosorbide mononitrate.

makvit [3.9K]

The correct answer would be option D, Both a and b are correct.

Explanation:

It has shown through studies that:

  1. Females are more likely than males to engage in health protective behaviors
  2. A much higher percentage of men than women get adequate exercise.

According to the studies, it is seen that females are more conscious towards their health. So they usually engage in health protective behaviors as well.

Also a higher percentage of men than women have been seen to get adequate exercise. This is also because women are generally busy in raising their kids and keeping up their houses. They usually don't get enough time for themselves, that make them away from the workout routine.
