How does food concentration affect yeast activity
jarptica [38.1K]

Yeast food is sugar and its concentration affect yeast’s growth and activity. The process by which yeast metabolize sugar is called fermentation. A sugar concentration that is not very high (up to 3%), increase the fermentation rate. But, with over 3% sugar, the fermentation rate no longer increases. Above 6%, sugar actually decreases the rate  because it begins to dehydrate the yeast cells. This effect is called crenation.

With regard to special mechanisms of photosynthesis in hot or dry climates, ________ photosynthesis separates carbon dioxide cap
pashok25 [27]

Answer:

C4, CAM

Explanation:

C4 photosynthesis separates carbon dioxide capture and the Calvin cycle physically and uses a special enzyme with a greater attraction for carbon dioxide.  C4 phtosynthesis is a CO2-concentrating mechanism that increases the carboxylation rate of Rubisco while simultaneously minimizing oxygenase activity and the inhibitory effects of photorespiratio

CAM(Crassulacean acid metabolism) keep their stomata closed during the day to prevent water loss. on CAM which  is a carbon fixation pathway that evolved in some plants as an adaptation to arid conditions. In a plant using full CAM, the stomata in the leaves remain shut during the day to reduce evapotranspiration, but open at night to collect carbon dioxide.

How does the enzyme telomerase meet the challenge of replicating the ends of linear chromosomes?
maxonik [38]

Answer:

The correct answer is C) It catalyzes the lengthening of telomeres, compensating for the shortening that could occur during replication without telomerase activity.

Explanation:

While replicating, the ends of the chromosomes always lose a part of the ends, therefore, the telomerase catalyzes this growing process, somehow compensating the information that will be lost.
