Process:

2/3x -7 = 17
17 + 7 = 24
2/3x = 24

2/3 = 24/x
24 ÷ 2 = 12
12 x 3 = 36
x = 36

Answer: X = 36

2/3x - 7 = 17

First add 7 to both sides because that's the inverse

2/3x -7 = 17

       +7   +7

2/3x = 24

Then you multiply the remaining numbers by 3 because that's the inverse of division

3(2/3x) = 3(24)

2x = 72

Then you divide by 2 to get the x alone

2x = 72

----   ----

2      2

x = 36

That's your answer

Does this graph represent a function? Why or why not?
malfutka [58]

Answer:

Yes.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is a function because it passes the vertical line test. Each x-value has just one y-value. If the relation had any x-values that had several y-values, it would just be a relation. But this one is a function.

Hope this helps!

Often sales of a new product grow rapidly at first and then level off with time. This is the case with the sales represented by
True [87]

Answer:

Here we have the function:

S(t) = 500 - 400*t^(-1)

Then the rate of change at the value t, will be:

S'(t) = dS(t)/dt

This differentiation will be:

S'(t) = -400/t^2

Then:

a) the rate of change at t = 1 is:

S'(1) =  -400/1^2 = -400

The rate of change after one year is -400

b) t = 10

S'(10) = -400/10^2 = -400/100 = -4

The rate of change after 10 years is -4, it reduced as the years passed, as expected.

A cooler contains fifteen bottles of sports drink: eight lemon-lime flavored and seven orange flavored
dem82 [27]

Answer:

Mutually exclusive,

P(\text{Lemon-lime or orange})=\frac{2}{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Please consider the complete question:

Determine if the scenario involves mutually exclusive or overlapping events. Then find the  probability.

A cooler contains twelve bottles of sports  drink: four lemon-lime flavored, four  orange flavored, and four fruit-punch  flavored. You randomly grab a bottle. It  is a lemon-lime or an orange.

Let us find probability of finding one lemon lime drink.

P(\text{Lemon-lime})=\frac{\text{Number of lemon lime drinks}}{\text{Total drinks}}

P(\text{Lemon-lime})=\frac{4}{12}

P(\text{Lemon-lime})=\frac{1}{3}

Let us find probability of finding one orange drink.

P(\text{Orange})=\frac{\text{Number of orange drinks}}{\text{Total drinks}}

P(\text{Orange})=\frac{4}{12}

P(\text{Orange})=\frac{1}{3}

Since probability of choosing a lemon lime doesn't effect probability of choosing orange drink, therefore, both events are mutually exclusive.

We know that probability of two mutually exclusive events is equal to the sum of both probabilities.

P(\text{Lemon-lime or orange})=P(\text{Lemon-lime})+P(\text{Orange})

P(\text{Lemon-lime or orange})=\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{3}

P(\text{Lemon-lime or orange})=\frac{1+1}{3}

P(\text{Lemon-lime or orange})=\frac{2}{3}

Therefore, the probability of choosing a lemon lime or orange is \frac{2}{3}.
