So, this is a systems of equations questions and it asks us to answer using the substitution method. First rewrite the equations. I’ll provide an image of my work with accompanying explanations:

Step 2: You will need to choose any equation to isolate the variable from preferably the equation with a variable that isn’t connected to a coefficient. So I chose the first one. To isolate X add 2y to -2y to cancel it out. And the rule what u do to one side you do to the other applies so on the right side add 2y as well. So X equals 6 + 2y.

Step 3: substitute X in the OTHER EQUATION with 6+2y. After that distribute 5 into 6 and 2y. Get rid of 30 and combine your like terms. Divide by 7 to get rid of the coefficient to isolate y.

Step 4: Find X value by using other equation the first one. Refer to image.

Step 5: the solution is (10,2)
