Before the periodic table, there were a bunch of symbols, number, letters etc (In all kinds of languages) that represented the elements. Scientists around the world saw that a chart of the elements needed to be universally accepted and finalized. A guy named Mendeleev presented this idea to the scientific community. Mendeleev was also the first to order elements according to atomic number rather than atomic weight. The modern day periodic table was not published by him, it was developed with the help of the entire scientific community. Honestly, there isn't a specific way to tell you how the periodic table was constructed, scientists developed thousands of tables that represented the elements. And just to let you know, the modern day periodic table is constantly going through changes as we discover more and more about elements, atoms, molecules etc. so in the near future it wouldn't be surprising if we saw something completely different than what we see today.

The combustion of one mole of liquid ethanol, CH3CH2OH, produces 1367 kJ of heat. Calculate how much heat is produced when 235.0
deff fn [24]

Answer:- 6984 kJ of heat is produced.

Solution:- From given information, 1367 kJ of heat is produced by the combustion of 1 mole of ethanol. We are asked to calculate the heat produced by the combustion of 235.0 g of ethanol.

Let's convert given grams to moles and multiply by the heat produced by one mole of ethanol to get the total heat produced. Molar mass of ethanol is 46 grams per mole. The set will be:

235.0g(\frac{1mole}{46g})(\frac{1367 kJ}{1mole})

= 6984 kJ

So, 6984 kJ of heat is produced by the combustion of 235.0 g of liquid ethanol.

Solid aluminum hydroxide reacts with a solution of hydrobromic acid. Write a balanced molecular equation and a balanced net ioni
lora16 [44]

Answer:

Al(OH)_{3}(s)+3H^{+}(aq.)+3Br^{-}(aq.)\rightarrow Al^{3+}(aq.)+3Br^{-}(aq.)+3H_{2}O(l)

Al(OH)_{3}(s)+3H^{+}(aq.)\rightarrow Al^{3+}(aq.)+3H_{2}O(l)

Explanation:

Aluminium hydroxide (Al(OH)_{3}) is a base and hydrobromic acid (HBr) is a strong acid.

Hence an acid-base reaction occurs between Al(OH)_{3} and HBr

Balanced molecular equation:

Al(OH)_{3}(s)+3HBr(aq.)\rightarrow AlBr_{3}(aq.)+3H_{2}O(l)

Balanced total ionic equation:

Al(OH)_{3}(s)+3H^{+}(aq.)+3Br^{-}(aq.)\rightarrow Al^{3+}(aq.)+3Br^{-}(aq.)+3H_{2}O(l)

Balanced net ionic equation:

Al(OH)_{3}(s)+3H^{+}(aq.)\rightarrow Al^{3+}(aq.)+3H_{2}O(l)

(net ionic equation is written by removing common ions present in both side of total ionic equation)
