40% of 60 is 24

To convert from percent to decimal, divide the percent without the percent symbol by  100.

so, 40% = 40/100 = 0.4

40% 60 is just 0.4*60 = 24

Since you know 60 is the total value then it would be 60/100% then you times is by x/40% given that x is the value you’re trying to find. so by cross multiplying 60*40 then dividing by 100 is your answer

Last spring, the drama department at Manchester High School had 12 students audition for the musical. This spring, there were 15
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

25%

Step-by-step explanation:

The percent of increase can be calculated using following formula:

\text{Percent Increase}=\dfrac{\text{Final Amount-Initial Amount}}{\text{Initial Amount}}\cdot 100\%.

In your case,

  • Initial amount = 12 students;
  • Final amount = 15 students,

then

\text{Percent Increase}=\dfrac{15-12}{12}\cdot 100\%=\dfrac{3}{12}\cdot 100\%=\dfrac{1}{4}\cdot 100\%=25\%.
