Answer:

 The planer four bar linkage is the type of closed chain linkage and it is also simple movable linkage system. It is also known as "four-bar" linkage.

In this type of four bar linkage the re-volute joints are mainly designed to handle the transverse load easily as compared to load acting on the length of the link.

The planer four bar linkage are mainly constructed when the four types of links are mainly constructed in the loop format by using the joints. These joints are basically configure so that the links can easily move in the parallel plane system.

A well-insulated tank in a vapor power plant operates at steady state. Saturated liquid water enters at inlet 1 at a rate of 125
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

a) \dot m_{3} = 135\,\frac{lbm}{s}, b) h_{3}=168.965\,\frac{BTU}{lbm}, c) T = 200.829\,^{\textdegree}F

Explanation:

a) The tank can be modelled by the Principle of Mass Conservation:

\dot m_{1} + \dot m_{2} - \dot m_{3} = 0

The mass flow rate exiting the tank is:

\dot m_{3} = \dot m_{1} + \dot m_{2}

\dot m_{3} = 125\,\frac{lbm}{s} + 10\,\frac{lbm}{s}

\dot m_{3} = 135\,\frac{lbm}{s}

b) An expression for the specific enthalpy at outlet is derived from the First Law of Thermodynamics:

\dot m_{1}\cdot h_{1} + \dot m_{2} \cdot h_{2} - \dot m_{3}\cdot h_{3} = 0

h_{3} = \frac{\dot m_{1}\cdot h_{1}+\dot m_{2}\cdot h_{2}}{\dot m_{3}}

Properties of water are obtained from tables:

h_{1}=180.16\,\frac{BTU}{lbm}

h_{2}=28.08\,\frac{BTU}{lbm} + \left(0.01604\,\frac{ft^{3}}{lbm}\right)\cdot (14.7\,psia-0.25638\,psia)

h_{2}=29.032\,\frac{BTU}{lbm}

The specific enthalpy at outlet is:

h_{3}=\frac{(125\,\frac{lbm}{s} )\cdot (180.16\,\frac{BTU}{lbm} )+(10\,\frac{lbm}{s} )\cdot (29.032\,\frac{BTU}{lbm} )}{135\,\frac{lbm}{s} }

h_{3}=168.965\,\frac{BTU}{lbm}

c) After a quick interpolation from data availables on water tables, the final temperature is:

T = 200.829\,^{\textdegree}F

You have been assigned to design an open cylindrical storage tank 4 meters tall with a diameter of 8 meters to be made out of A-
Katen [24]

Answer:

The required wall thickness is 1.506 \times 10^{-3} m

Explanation:

Given:

Fluid density \rho = 1200 \frac{kg}{m^{3} }

Diameter of tank d = 8 m

Length of tank l = 4 m

F.S = 4

For A-36 steel yield stress \sigma = 250 MPa,

Allowable stress \sigma _{allow} = \frac{\sigma}{F.S}

 \sigma _{allow} = \frac{250}{4} = 62.5 MPa

Pressure force is given by,

 P = \rho gh

 P = 1200 \times 9.8 \times 4

P = 47088 Pa

Now for a vertical pipe,

\sigma _{allow} = \frac{Pd}{4t}

Where t = required thickness

 t = \frac{Pd}{4 \sigma _{allow} }

 t = \frac{47088 \times 8 }{4 \times 62.5 \times 10^{6} }

t = 1.506 \times 10^{-3} m

Therefore, the required wall thickness is 1.506 \times 10^{-3} m

A program contains the following function definition: int cube(int number) { return number * number * number; } Write a stateme
Nonamiya [84]

Answer:

The statement can be written as

int result = cube(4);

Explanation:

A function is a block of reusable codes to perform some tasks. For example, the function in the question is to calculate the cube of a number.

A function can also operate on one or more input value (argument) and return a result. The <em>cube </em>function in the question accept one input value through its parameter <em>number </em>and the <em>number</em> will be multiplied by itself twice and return the result.

To call a function, just simply write the function name followed with parenthesis (e.g. <em>cube()</em>). Within the parenthesis, we can include zero or one or more than one values as argument(s) (e.g. <em>cube(4)</em>).

We can then use the "=" operator to assign the return output of the function to a variable (e.g. <em>int result = cube(4)</em>)
