Use the table to draw the graph of height(y-axis) against week(x-axis).
The graph is a straight line.
Find the gradient of the graph as the first step.
Gradient = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

              = (17-12)/(4-2)
              = 5/2
Use this gradient to find the equation of the line. Use one of the point from the table (e.g. (8,27)) and another general point (x,y).

∴5/2=(y-27)/(8-x)
   5/2 (x-8) = y-27
    (5/2)x - 20 = y-27

   y=(5/2)x - 20 + 27

  y = (5/2)x + 7

The answer is A

Answer:
y = \frac{5}{2} x + 7

Explanation:
The general form of the linear equation is:
y = mx + c
where:
m is the slope
c is the y-intercept

1- getting the slope:
slope can be calculated as follows:
m = \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1}

I will use the points (2,12) and (8,27) to get the slope. You can choose any other two points and you will get the same answer.
m = \frac{27-12}{8-2} =  \frac{5}{2}

The equation of the line now is:
y = \frac{5}{2} x + c

2- getting the y-intercept:
To get the y-intercept (c), we will use any of the given points, substitute in teh equation and solve for c.
I will use the point (6,22) as follows:
y = \frac{5}{2} x + c

22 = \frac{5}{2} (6) + c

22 = 15 + c
c = 7

Based on teh above, the equation of the line is:
y = \frac{5}{2} x + 7

Hope this helps :)

Predict what the graph of the following quadratic function will look like. (If you have a graphing calculator, you can use it to
Alex17521 [72]

Answer:

u-shaped; y-intercept (0,6); symmetrical with respect to the y-axis

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that y = 2x² + 6

The graph would be the shape of that of a parabola. It can be u shaped or n shaped depending on the value of the coefficient of a comparing with the standard equation y = ax² + bx + c. If a > 0, it is u shape and if a < 0, it is n shape.

For this question, since a > 0 it would be u shaped and the intercept can be gotten by putting x = 0.

Therefore y = 0² + 6 = 0

The intercept is at (0,6) and is symmetrical with respect to the y-axis

The numbers of regular season wins for 10 football teams in a given season are given below. Determine the range, mean, variance,
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

We have the following data set:

2,7,15,3,12,9,15,8,3,10

The range is the difference between the highest and lowest values in the set, to find the range, order the data set from least to greatest.

2,3,3,7,8,9,10,12,15,15

Then,

\begin{gathered} \text{Range}=15-2 \\ \text{Range}=13 \end{gathered}

Mean is represented by the following expression:

\text{Mean}=\frac{\text{Sum of all data points}}{Number\text{ of data po}ints}\text{Mean}=\frac{84}{10}=8.4

Population variance formula looks like this:

\begin{gathered} \sigma^2=\frac{\sum^{}_{}(x-\mu)^2}{N} \\ \text{where,} \\ \sigma^2=\text{population variance} \\ \sum ^{}_{}=addition\text{ of} \\ x=\text{each value} \\ \mu=population\text{ mean} \\ N=\text{ number of values in the population} \end{gathered}

Then, substituting:

\begin{gathered} \sigma^2=\frac{(2-14)^2+(3-14)^2+\cdots+(15-14)^2}{10} \\ \sigma^2=20.44 \end{gathered}

For the standard deviation:

\begin{gathered} s=\sqrt[]{\frac{\sum ^{}_{}(x-\mu)^2}{N}} \\ s=4.521 \end{gathered}
