First, we determine how many electrons can each subshell hold:
s can hold 2 electrons
p can hold 6 electrons
d can hold 10 electrons
f can hold 14 electrons

Second, we start distributing the 10 electrons on the orbitals of subshells based on the arrangement shown in the question :
1s will hold 2 electrons
2s will hold 2 electrons
2p will hold 6 electrons
All other orbitals will will hold zero electrons as the 10 were distributed among the first 2

Answer: 1s: 2
              2s: 2
              2p: 6

Which is an example of a highly unstable isotope that is often used in fission reactions?
GuDViN [60]
The right answer to this question is U-235. It is an isotope of Uranium and it is an unsteady heavy metal used in fission reactions because it can run long chains of reactions. I hope this helps.

For the reaction H2O(g) + Cl2O(g) → 2HCIO(9), you know S rxn and Sosys and S° of HCIO(g) and of H2O(g). Write an expression that
Liono4ka [1.6K]

The expression that can be used to determine Cl2O(g) is ;

S_{cl_{2}o(g) } ^{o} = 2S_{HCIO(g)} ^{o} - S_{H_{2}O(g) }^{o} - \beta S_{rxn} ^{o}

<h3>Determine an expression that can be used to determine Cl2O(g)</h3>

The general expression for ΔS°rxn of a chemical reaction

ΔS°rxn = ∑mS°products - ∑nS°reactants

where ; m and n = stoichiometry coefficients

Considering the given reaction : H₂O(g) + Cl₂O(g) → 2HCIO (g)

\betaS°rxn  = 2S_{HCIO(g)} ^{o} - S_{H_{2}O(g) } ^{o} - S_{Cl_{2}O } ^{o} ------- ( 2 )

Rearranging the equation above

S_{cl_{2}o(g) } ^{o} = 2S_{HCIO(g)} ^{o} - S_{H_{2}O(g) }^{o} - \beta S_{rxn} ^{o}

Hence we can conclude that The expression that can be used to determine Cl2O(g) is ;

S_{cl_{2}o(g) } ^{o} = 2S_{HCIO(g)} ^{o} - S_{H_{2}O(g) }^{o} - \beta S_{rxn} ^{o}
