Explanation:

1)

a) Wavelength of red light = 700 nm

1 nanometer = 10^{-9} meter

Wavelength of red light in meter will be:

=700 nm=700\times 10^{-9} m=7.00\times 10^{-7} m

b) Wavelength of red light = 7.00\times 10^{-7} m

1 meter  = 39.3701 inches

Wavelength of red light in inches will be:

7.00\times 10^{-7} m=7.00\times 10^{-7}\times 39.3701 inches

=2.7559\times 10^{-5} inches

2)

Value of distance given = 90.123 km

1 km = 3280.84 feet

90.123 km=90.123 \times 3280.84 feet=295,679.1433 feet

1 foot = 0.1515152 chain

295,679.1433 feet=295,679.1433\times 0.1515152 chain

=44,799.88453 feet\approx 4.48\times 10^4 chains

Value of distance in chains:

90.123 km=4.48\times 10^4 chains

The solubility of a sample will ____________ when the size of the sample increases.
devlian [24]

The solubility of a sample will decrease when the size of the sample increases.

When the Size of sample is bigger, it means there is more particles that make up that sample so the amount of solvent to dissolve the sample will also be in the greater amount. Thus, when the sample size increases the solubility decrease. We can also say that size of sample and solubility are inversely proportional to each other.

a student balanced the chemical equation for the reaction of magnesium with oxygen by writing Mg + O2 ----> MgO2. What is wro
egoroff_w [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

Magnesium when it oxidizes has a valence of 2.

Oxygen, when it mixes with something, has a valence of - 2

So Mg and O2 will form something, but what? The answer is MgO

Mg + O2 ===> MgO

To balance this equation, you need 2 Magnesiums on the right and 2 Oxygens also on the right. The left will need a  two Magnesiums.

The balanced equation will be

2Mg + O2 ====> 2MgO
