Answer:

P(x2) = (x2/2 -1 )^2

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we have a dilation of 2 units on the x-axis

The individual points on the curve can be written as:

(x, P(x))

For the sake of ambiguity, let’s say P(x) is y

Now if the first point is (x1,y1) then the second is (x2,y2)

But since dilation is only on the x-axis y1 is same as y2

What this means is that;

our second point is still same as (x2,y1)

But x2 = 2x1

or x1 = x2/2

Thus; y2 or P(x2) = (x2/2 -1 )^2

Thus the horizontal dilation causes the new curve to be as written above

One hundred times the quantity seven plus two
Mandarinka [93]

"seven" means ' 7 '

"two" means ' 2 '

"the quantity seven plus two" means ' (7 + 2) '

"one hundred times the quantity ..." means ' 100 (7 + 2) '
That's the expression.

One of the rules for handling these things is that you should always
take care of anything inside parentheses first. So do that.

         (7 + 2) = 9

Now you can can write the expression like this: ' 100 (9) ' .

That's just 900 .

Part A: If (7exponent2)exponentX = 1, what is the value of X? Explain your answer.
yKpoI14uk [10]
Answers:
Part A: The value of x must be 0
Part B: The value of x can be any real number

----------------------------------------------------------------

Explanation:

Part A) We have the equation (7^2)^x = 1 which simplifies to 7^(2x) = 1. The only way to get the left side equal to the right side is to have the exponent of 2x equal zero. If 2x = 0, then x = 0. So that's why x = 0 is the only solution here.

--------------

Part B) Similar to part A above, but the exponent is slightly different now. We have (7^0)^x = 1 which turns into 7^(0*x) = 1. The exponent 0*x is really 0 no matter what x is. We can plug in any real number we want for x and the left side will always be 1. This is why the solution set to this equation is the set of all real numbers.
